Missing 11-year-old girl found in Washington, D.C.
Apr 2, 2017 08:32 PM
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The 11-year-old girl who went missing from a home where a man and woman were shot and killed Sunday has been found safe in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C., Metro Police found Arieyana Forney inside the white Chevy Impala officials posted in the AMBER Alert.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, a female inside that car called police saying she had been kidnapped and described where she was. Officials were not able to confirm whether that call came from Arieyana.

"The D.C. Metro Police flooded that area and was looking for this car, our White Impala, and were able to locate that car and they were able to take the occupants of that car into custody and recover Arieyana safely," said CMPD Major Mike Smathers.

Curtis Atkinson Jr. has been arrested and is being held in D.C. on local charges. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officials expect to charge him with the murder of Curtis Atkinson Sr. and Ruby Atkinson.

Atkinson led D.C. police on a chase before crashing.
