An Arizona woman claimed she “blacked out” the moment she hit the accelerator pedal and ran her boyfriend over and doesn’t remember the ordeal despite having visible damage to her vehicle, police said.

Vanessa Santillan was arrested after the bizarre April 21 altercation with her boyfriend in Tempe, AZFamily.com reported Wednesday. Santillan was in the car with her boyfriend when they got into a heated argument that escalated when he exited the vehicle as she came to a stop.

When she honked her car horn, he allegedly flipped her off and continued walking away, appearing to send Santillan into a rage, police said.

The 40-year-old woman then allegedly drove onto the sidewalk and hit her boyfriend with her car before fleeing the scene. Police said the man, who suffered injuries to the right side of his body, was taken to the hospital where he received stitches.

Santillan purportedly told officers in a phone call afterward that she left her boyfriend on the sidewalk because she didn’t think he was injured “that bad,” court documents revealed. She reportedly said she picked up her son and drove him to North Arizona University after the incident.

I wish just once that a judge would hear that and yank the person's license on the spot, not to be returned until the person gets medical clearance.

Just once.

They took my license a MINIMUM of one year and then I was allowed to approach my physician and my neurologist for clearance and they both had to provide documentation no seizures in consecutive 12 months and they both had to write letters stating they felt my seizures were under control and I wasn’t a danger to myself or other drivers .. MAKE THEM SUFFER THAT

Was that because you actually blacked out or cuz you gave that as an excuse to the judge?

I started having grand mal seizures consecutively .. so in essence yes I blacked out .. I think these idiots should have to do the same .. the judge should say .. mr/ms xyz if you’re blacking out we’re going to act on the side of caution for you and the public .. you are required to see a physician and a neurologist for the next 12 months at that time xyz and you can report to the court now on to the punishment phase for your dumbfuckery!

My wife was rear-ended in a very bad accident a year and a half ago. the guy claimed he "blacked out" due to his 'seizures' (even though he was lucid enough to flee the scene). After a year of missed trial dates (no penalties for that?) and postponed hearings, the guy got probation and 'permanent revocation' of his license. However - at the time of the accident, dipshit was already driving on a suspended license!

My point is, unfortunately, a lot of people have no problem driving without a license.
