27-year-old Angel Ventura Ayala is facing felony animal abuse charges, according to Henderson Police Department records.
The incident began early December 16 when officers responded to a family disturbance call. A woman told officers her boyfriend had thrown her cat and sent her a video of the incident.
According to the police report, the woman showed officers a video sent to her phone at approximately 1:07 a.m. In the video, Ventura Ayala can be seen picking up the cat, and saying, “I’ll throw your [expletive] cat,” as he walked out of his apartment.
The video shows Ventura Ayala throwing the cat against a wall and then into the parking lot.
Police said the incident occurred after Ventura Ayala and his girlfriend had gotten into a verbal argument about attending a party in a male friend’s hotel room.
The cat was later taken to Pebble Maryland Animal Hospital, where a veterinarian noted the cat appeared healthy but observed bruising on the lower gumline and slight swelling to the chin consistent with trauma. X-rays showed no fractures were present, the report noted.
