Coudersport-based Pennsylvania State Police charged Andrew Schuyler Jeffers, 30, of Ulysses with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and a host of other felonies on Dec. 10, including aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said the child sustained intracranial hemorrhages, allegedly as a result of being assaulted by Jeffers.
Jeffers is accused of beating the child on more than one occasion between June 29 and July 2, 2024 at a residence in Sweden Township.
Witnesses told investigators that Jeffers was supervising the child and three other children on July 2, 2024 at the Sweden Township address when he allegedly assaulted the 5-year-old.
Jeffers was also seen injuring the child in the days before he was rushed to UPMC Cole, investigators allege.
