Christa Walker Castleberry and Elizabeth Kasi Payne

Investigators received a video showing a day care worker at Blessings by Day putting a 13-month-old baby down for a nap. The sheriff's office determined the worker was using excessive force, pushing the child onto a cot with a hard frame multiple times and forcibly striking the baby in the back multiple times. The sheriff's office said the worker was Christa Walker Castelberry.

Elizabeth Kasi Payne, the day care manager, was informed of an injury to the child's eye, but investigators said she failed to report the injury to law enforcement or DHR.

Castleberry, 26, is charged with torture/willful abuse of a child, non-family, and Payne, 29, is charged with failure to report as a mandatory reporter.

The whole idea of using force to get a youngling to nap is a strange one to me.

heck i know my youngest hated to take naps and would fight it big time so i use to tell him no nap just quiet time while you bro naps and would sit by his bed and rub his back (that always worked with him starting when he was a colicky baby, i learned that late but hey was glad to finally also be able to sleep lol ) and softly sing to both boys and before you knew it both were asleep lol but first think on waking up my youngest would say "no nap mommy, no no, no nap" lol and out of bed he would be lol...
