More than 20 black White House aides have departed the Biden administration since late last year, an exodus some have dubbed “Blaxit,” according to a new report.

While some of the departing staffers have left on good terms to pursue additional career or educational opportunities, others have attributed the turnover to a lack of mentorship and opportunity, Politico reported Tuesday, citing nine black current and former White House officials.

“We’re here and we’re doing a lot of work but we’re not decision-makers and there’s no real path towards becoming decision-makers,” one current staffer told the outlet. “There is no real feedback and there’s no clear path to any kind of promotions.”

“They brought in a ton of black people generally to start without ever establishing an infrastructure to retain them or help them be successful,” another current official said. “If there is no clear infrastructure of how to be successful, you become just as invisible in this space than you would be if you were not in it.”

Some “people have not had the best experiences and a lot of that has to do with the death of black leadership,” a former official agreed. “Think about any workplace. Black folks need some person to go to, to strategize and be a mentor, and we just don’t have as many folks who can be mentors to us.”

One of the best people I ever met to teach me the ropes in the construction field was a Mexican gentleman. But according to this... he shouldn't have been a mentor to my 16 yr old self learning my first job... because I was white and he was brown.
Not that it matters I was older than 16, but my supervisor was Mexican,if it wasn't for him teaching the ins and outs of the swimming pool business I would be up the creak. That was my second go at it,the first was a good ole boy ran company who basically didn't want to teach anything.

“If there is no clear infrastructure of how to be successful, you become just as invisible in this space than you would be if you were not in it.”

The very same can be said of a lot of jobs, they just want warm bodies, somebody to do what they don't want to do, pay you the lowest they legally can and fire you because they're in a bad mood.

Been there, done that, at every job I have ever worked.

While I understand wanting to have what looks like a diverse workforce, the overall goal of any job should be setting an employee up to succeed not to fail. That was my big issue with affirmative action, it had nothing to do with overall sucess just appearances. I bet the new WH spokesperson (who is gay AND black) will not last long because they have no system of support for her. Just like the Supreme Court Justice, Biden fucked that up so badly, he said I'm going to appoint an African American woman. He should have stated I'm going to appoint the best person for the job, then appointed an African American woman. Then her qualifications would have been her experience, not her race/gender.
