Two McGraw residents were released on their own recognizance and are to appear in court to answer to charges alleging sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Catherine MacGibbon, 32, and Chad Rackett, 36, were arrested on Aug. 5, 2019 by members of the Cortland County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said an investigation revealed that an 8-year-old girl known to the defendants was submitted to inappropriate contact in the pair's home.

Police said MacGibbon and Rackett are in a relationship.

MacGibbon was charged with the misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child. Rackett faces the felony charge of third-degree aggravated sex abuse.
