Police said they found the home where the kids lived and it reeked of feces and was covered with dead bugs and trash.
The children’s father, Evan Wright, 25, was charged Wednesday with two counts of child neglect and one count each of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wright was found sleeping in a rear bedroom and was detained. The children who were found on the street were 2 years old, Apollonia and 9 months old, Rozalynn according to the report.
While police were on the scene, the children’s mother showed up and told them she had left her two children in Wright’s care while she and her mother ran errands, the report stated. Wright was awake and alert when she dropped them off, the woman told police.
Police said the smell of rotting food also was present in the house and live bugs were crawling throughout the kitchen.
The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified, police said.
