The sheriff's deputies responded to a call at around 4 p.m. local time on South Harris Street in Italy, according to Ellis County Sheriff Deputy Jerry Cozby.

Upon arrival, multiple victims were found, including three children that were dead and two others who were wounded and taken to the hospital. All of the victims were children, Cozby said.

A suspect was detained, police said.

The Ellis County Sheriff Department is leading the investigation.

A mother has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her five young children, killing three, when a child protective services worker made a surprise visit to their home.

The children, who were all elementary school age, were tragically found with knife wounds inside their home in Italy, Texas, prompting the arrest of Shamaiya Hall, 25.

The two surviving kids were rushed to hospital by helicopter, and their condition is currently unknown.

Sources within the CPS say that Hall stabbed her children when the officer arrived at the property unannounced on Friday after suspecting she was having unsupervised visitations with them, reports WFAA.

They were under the guardianship of another relative, who has not been named, after being removed from Hall's care by the CPS.

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office said the child protective services officer frantically called 911 for help after making the tragic discovery during their unexpected visit.

Hall was subsequently arrested about 11pm Friday night. The 25-year-old is now facing three counts of capital murder, and is in custody in the Ellis County Jail.

This family needs sterilized. I don't even care how fucked up that sounds. Something is wrong. And when the women get upset, they murder their children.

Having this happen more than once across multiple generations would be extreme, let alone in just 2 years. I've never heard of something like this happening.

Every single family member needs evaluated properly and maybe use them for research purposes to figure out what's happening in their DNA to make them this badly fucked up.

The other children in the family must have some doubts about their safety now that it's happened again. I would.

CPS had previously placed the children — all of whom were siblings and elementary school age or younger — under the guardianship of another relative, the agency’s sources said.

The worker visited the home Friday because she suspected the mother was having an unsupervised visit with the children, the New York Post reported.

“We are shocked by this incomprehensible tragedy, and already working with law enforcement to investigate how this happened, and why,” CPS told WFAA.

During a later televised broadcast, WFAA reported that Shamaiya Deyonshanaye Hall, 25, was in custody and facing capital murder charges. She was booked in jail at 11:02 p.m. on Friday, according to jail booking records.

Sources told the news outlet that Hall stabbed the children after the CPS worker arrived at the home unannounced due to the mother having unsupervised visits. The children were living at the residence under the guidance of another relative.

The CPS worker is the individual who called 911 during the homicidal attack.

The names of the children involved have not been released.

As the small town of Italy, Texas, continues to grieve over the deaths of three children at a local home, family members are speaking out over the tragic incident.

The CPS worker told police she was called to the home on Harris Street to remove the children.

She told the 911 operator she was outside and saw Hall enter the home and then came back outside with what she believed to be blood on her hands, according to the affidavit.

She also told the dispatcher that the mother had threatened suicide in the past and was being "aggressive."

Italy police found three children in a back bedroom of the home unresponsive with what they believed to be multiple stab wounds in the abdominal area, according to the documents.

The document also details what was taken from the home, including a knife blade from the front bedroom with blood, a large stainless-steel knife from the back bedroom with blood, a black knife blade handle and a stainless steel knife from the back bedroom.

Family members told FOX 4 Hall didn’t have custody of her children, and they had been living with Hall's grandmother, the owner of the home.
