17-Year-Old Girl Found Shot Dead In Cemetery

"A family in Ellenwood, Georgia is in mourning after a 17-year-old girl was found shot to death at a cemetery about 60 miles from Atlanta on Sunday.

D'Shaunti Kyanni Hunter, a black female, was found at a cemetery across the street from Unionville Church near Barnesville in Lamar County.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations was called in to probe the scene and brought Hunter's body to a crime lab.

The body was found on Sunday by someone visiting the cemetery, but Hunter wasn't identified until Monday following the notification of family members.

In a Facebook statement from the Lamar County Sheriff's Office released just after 4pm on Sunday afternoon, it was revealed Hunter suffered at least one gunshot wound.

It's not clear if she was shot and killed in the cemetery or transported there following her death.

The cause of death also hasn't been confirmed."

I wonder if she had been reported missing by her family? No mention of how long she may have been at the cemetery. A sad loss either way, she was a beautiful young woman

Investigators from the Lamar County Sheriff's Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and U.S. Marshals apprehended 22-year-old Jaylan Jashad Ray, of Albany, in Tallahassee, Florida.

Ray is being held on warrants taken for murder and aggravated assault, awaiting extradition to Leon County jail in Florida.
