Body camera footage of the arrest of a 6-year-old girl at her Orlando school has been released.

The footage was released by the attorney of the family of the child.

The video shows Kaia Rolle sitting with a woman inside of an office as Officer Dennis Turner walks into the room at Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy on Sept. 19, 2019.

Kaia begins to cry as the officer puts zip ties on her wrists, asking for help. "Please let me go," she asks the officer as she continues to cry.

"I don't want to go to the police car," she tells the officer putting her in the back as she sobs, begging to be let go, the video shows.

Turner then reenters the school where a woman asks if the restraints were necessary. Turner replies that if Kaia was bigger, they would have used handcuffs to restrain her.

Turner had also arrested a second 6-year-old.

Kaia is accused, in a police report document, of battering three staff members at Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy, allegedly kicking and punching them. A staff member was quoted as being one of the people hit and says in the report she wants to press charges and testify in court against the child.

The school or the staff member said that is not what happened. That person said they never wanted to press charges, and certainly didn't want the girl arrested.

A week after the arrest, Orlando police Chief Orlando Rolon announced that Turner had been fired.

At the time, Rolon said he was shocked by Turner's actions and apologized directly to the children involved and their families.

"As a grandfather of three children less than 11 years old, I can only imagine how traumatic this was for everyone involved," Rolon said."We were all appalled. We could not fathom the idea of a 6-year-old being put in the back of a police car," Rolon said.

On Tuesday, Orlando Police released a statement from Rolon about the incident once again. Rolon said he has taken measures to ensure that something like the arrests don't happen again.

It includes getting an approval by the Deputy Chief to arrest any juvenile under the age of 12

I feel the same way and I'm not sure what should be done in general. Something seems to have gone horribly wrong in our communities, but, really, what is it that needs to change?
Decent parenting.
Kids are not being raised, they are being farmed.
Every single problem kid I saw in the youth centre came from a single parent, group or non functioning home.
Healthy families begin with healthy parenting.
Too many adults drop the ball.

@Satanica

I am torn - yes it was wrong to zip tie her but it might curb her violent tendencies.

The family should be awarded a dollar and free counseling for future "big mama".

EXCUSE ME? KEEP YOUR RACIST ASS COMMENTS TO YOURSELF! IM FUCKING DONE WITH THE ASSUMPTIONS! NO WHITE KID GETS TREATED LIKE THIS. WTF!

Let's stipulate, for the sake of argument, that the child is a vicious little piece of work.

You know what? It doesn't matter. She's six. Getting her under control and making her behave is part of the school's job. It's the parents' job first, of course, but after that it's the school's. It isn't the job of police, at least not until the parents AND the school continue failing at their jobs for several more years.

I'm disappointed the police went along with this nonsense and agreed to turn it into a law enforcement situation, but I can't blame them too much. You call the police, you end up with a police situation, and the police handle it the police way.

It’s the parents job or keep her home
Teacher’s get sued for looking at kids the wrong way, they have no choice but call the cops. It’s really the fucked up PC crowd that has tied the schools/ teacher’s hands

Here’s this: what the hell did the school staff (bitches calling cops on 6 year olds) think the police were going to do? The whole thing shows me a gaggle of incompetent adults and two little ones that are in need of a lot more help than zip ties and criminal charges. Jesus Christ...re-train the whole damn staff in de-escalation techniques and get the school counselor involved to see why they acted out to begin with. I saw 2 big boys get into a fiat fight and then verbally threaten the teacher that broke them up...on a 6th grade field trip. Guess what? That teacher calmed them both down , they ended up hugging each other, apologizing to the teacher and hugging him too. No damn cops were called and at the end of the day those boys found out they had someone they could trust...turns out they were related and dealing with a whole bunch of adult issues from a dysfunctional family. These were big boys too- I’m a nasty scrapper at 5 ft 5 inches and 140 lbs that would wrestle a grown man if need be-but these kids were extremely enraged and as big as this mama. I wasn’t stepping in the middle of that fight. I was impressed with the teacher and happy for the resolution. Made sure to give that teacher his accolades after the fact!!

Sorry, I don't buy it. If teachers have allowed their profession to abdicate responsibility for maintaining discipline, that's on them, too. Teaching is a profession, its practitioners have a duty to defend their profession's integrity. The PC crowd has their share of the blame, of course, for interfering with what they don't understand. But responsible teachers need to have the stones to stand up to them.

School administrators are the dumbest people on earth, they can’t handle anything only mindlessly follow rules
That’s why they need someone else to make decisions for them

Has nothing to do with having “stones” as you say. Teachers hardly have the last word when it comes to dealing with unruly children and parents. If parents don’t like a teachers decision they’ll go to the principal, next superintendent, pitch a fit to the school board, and lastly hire an attorney. All so that little Johnny Fuckface can come to school and act however he wants. And he better be in a regular Ed classroom (so he can disrupt the other 24 kids education)and you better not lay a hand on him (even though we most likely beat the shit out of him his entire life) or raise your voice (we’ve been cussing at him since before he could talk though) bring up the possibility of medication cause we ain’t drugging our kid bc you don’t want to do your job (yeah, we’re drug addicts and alcoholics-Fuck off)
There’s a reason kids like Johnny act like they do and for those of you suggesting the teacher failed this girl bc they weren’t using good classroom management have NO IDEA as to what went on prior to this. Yes she’s a six year old little girl, but a young child in a psychotic rage is not only frightening, but dangerous. Bet you’d feel differently if you’re own child was in a classroom with one or more students who behaved like this on a regular basis. Not only would their education be compromised but their safety and emotional health as well.
And yes I feel terribly sad that this little girl and Johnny Fuckface are acting out because they’re hurting and have horrible lives and shitty parents (not all, but most) BUT regular education is not equipped to deal with this level of disfunction.

Sorry, but doctors are faced with dipshit patients all the time and the profession as a whole hasn't just rolled over and said "Durr, okay, black salve and bloodletting it is". Lawyers don't just roll over and parrot their clients crazy SovCit arguments. Often that means they get fired, but they still refuse to do it. Unlike these two, teachers have unions, powerful ones. There's no excuse for knuckling under like this. To claim otherwise is to say teaching is no longer a profession - just another assembly-line job but with a grad school education.

What I do know about the situation is that the little girl didn't have to be pinned down, tased, or wrestled with to get those zip ties on. She was calmed down and compliant by the time they did that, which means somebody had already accomplished what needed to be done without using zip ties or a ride in a police car.

@Sugar Cookie your ignorant af but that's ok that's your lifestyle

Can you point out the overt racism you're squealing about please? I mean you said you are done with the assumptions, yet your entire response is based on your giant assumption isn't it? Sneauflayke much?

Priceless ignorance! How do you KNOW that I am not a POC? Did the lil' doggy in my avatar window tell you? What you can ascertain from my comment is that I don't fly off the handle and spit out the latest SJW bullshit nonsense because it would defy LOGIC to do so. As Sugar said, if she's gonna call out a white, inbred Florida Cracker for the stupid shit they do, NOT calling out POC for the same thing is massively hypocritical. Seriously, your petty, insignificant little temper tantrum only points out what a malleable sheep you are. Yay you? It's been fun laughing at you, but seriously, your shitty disposition and assumptive personality are really not my thing. But I do appreciate you letting the rest of us know what a triggered, pampered, histrionic asshole you are Sneauflayke. I do have one quick question for your ignorant ass, how many hours have you spent, hands on, helping folks in Soweto? Or in Mbabane? Tembisa? Mamelodi? Ivory Park? Diepsloot? Sorry Sweetness, YOUR arrogance is showing for all of the world to see. :mooning:

I love you so much BG

There is nothing racist in this comment. Let's break it down, shall we?

The family should be awarded a dollar...
If a lawsuit has no merit, but could win on a technicality, it is not uncommon for the final award to be one dollar. This has zero to do with race.

... and free counseling...
The 6 year old child physically attacked three adults at school, I believe it said she was hitting and kicking them. That isn't normal or healthy, the child clearly has issues. So she could use some counseling. That would apply regardless of the race of the child, so nothing racist there.

...for future "big mama".
The girl's mother is quite large. Children of heavy people are statistically much more likely to become heavy as well, so there is a higher than normal chance the child will end up heavy. Many people on DD are quick to mock heavy people (of both genders and all races). Sadly, it is one of the last groups it is still "acceptable" to make fun of. So saying this girl is likely to end up heavy is not racist, and neither is the term 'big mama'. "Mammy" would be racist, because it does refer to a specific race at a specific time. "Mama" does not, there are lots of white and Latino mothers who go by "mama".

@DaveL

It's not a schools job to make a kid behave .. their job is to educate only .. it is a parents job to discipline and teach a child respect .. schools only have limited access to corralling a wayward child .. a child cannot take a class hostage because a parent cannot preform their responsibilities .. the resource officer is step two and step three is to make the parents physically remove their children.. that even applies to special needs children..
