Juan Pablo Torres was sentenced to 11.5 to 23 months in county jail followed by one year of consecutive probation for abducting his seven-year-old daughter. The sentence was handed down by Montgomery County Judge Thomas M. DelRicci in September 2022.
Torres, a New York resident, was originally charged in 2020 after abducting his daughter, Giselle Torres, from a relative's home in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. The abduction triggered an Amber Alert and a multi-state manhunt that ended when Torres surrendered to the New York City Police Department later that same evening.
  • Abduction Details: Torres and two other armed men wearing body armor took the child from outside her home in September 2020.
  • Custody Status: At the time of the incident, Torres was the biological father but did not have legal custody.
  • Charges: He was arraigned on multiple charges, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, interference with the custody of children, and endangering the welfare of children.
  • Recovery: The child was found safe and uninjured in New York City.
