JANUARY 31--A Florida Man who asked his son for help when he was locked out of his email account is facing 20 felony charges after the younger man contacted police to report discovering child pornography on his parent’s phone, according to police.

Investigators say that Gene Follin, 63, recently turned to his son Jared, a 30-year-old city planner, for assistance with his disabled Gmail account.

Follin’s account had been flagged by Google after the firm’s monitoring systems detected that it had been used to upload illicit images of children to Google Photos, the sharing and storage service.

According to felony complaints, Jared Follin informed police he found “child pornography on Gene’s cell phone after Gene needed help accessing his email.”

The resulting investigation--which included subpoenas, a search warrant, and cyber tips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children--resulted in Tuesday’s arrest of Gene Follin for possession of child pornography.

Follin reportedly admitted to “saving child pornography” when questioned during a non-custodial police interview.

Oh, man. I can't imagine how horrifying it would be to discover that about your parent. Wonder if there was a confrontation or if he tried to play it off like he didn't see anything. That's awful.
I knew a man who turned in his wife after finding CSA images/videos on her computer. It tore the family apart. Some people even acted like she must have found out he was doing it and he turned the tables on her, but she abused their kids, too.
But your parent? The person who (probably) loved and cared for you? Kissed your boo boos. Planned your birthday parties. Wrapped Christmas presents for you. That is a whole other level of pain and betrayal.

At least the father can say that he raised his son right. Good GAWD that must have been so incredibly hard t to do for the son...
Exactly; it’s an easy decision for me on the other hand; right is right, wrong is wrong. And if it were me, I’d blow his brains out, then called the cops for cleanup and to take the filth outta my house, both physically and digitally so I can get back to raising my son. My heart goes out to the son; you did the right thing, and this isn’t your fault.
