A caregiver and her husband are accused of shooting and killing an elderly Ponce Inlet woman in her home, police said on Thursday.

Micayla Yusko, 22, and her husband, Tyden Guinn, 20, were each charged with first-degree premeditated murder and armed robbery of a dwelling, said Ponce Inlet police Chief Jeffrey Glazier.

Both are being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Yusko was the caregiver of the murder victim, Margaret Hindsley, 89, and visited her twice a day, Glazier said.
Police arrived on scene and found the door to Hindsley's condo half open. The victim was found in a back bedroom with severe injuries to her head, according to an incident report.

Two 9mm casings were found on the floor near Hindsley, police said.

Hindsley was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach where she died of her injuries, Glazier said

Police later found Yusko and Guinn in Oak Hill, where they had relatives. Investigators said that Yusko and Guinn told the relatives that they had shot Hindsley, Glazier said.

The vehicle and the guns used in the crime were recovered, Glazier said.

Court records show Yusko was arrested for aggravated battery on a person with a deadly weapon, a felony, by Daytona Beach police in September 2019.

In that incident, according to police, Yusko got into an argument with her then boyfriend Donovan Hove-Franklin at their Jimmy Ann Drive apartment.

During the argument, Yusko grabbed a 4-foot long, sharp aluminum shower curtain rod and jabbed Hove-Franklin with it, police said.

Hove-Franklin had cuts and bruises on his side, a report shows.

Yusko was also arrested by Port Orange police for marijuana possession in 2019.

Court records do not show any violent history for Guinn, who was arrested for driving without a license in 2016.

A 911 call released of one suspect’s father to police may shed light on a possible motive.

Police are not commenting on a motive just yet, but in that 911 call, the male suspect’s father says his daughter-in-law was talking about religion and the devil, and she had his son under a spell.

Micayla Yusco, 22, cried with her hands cuffed and folded in front of her while her husband, 24-year-old Tyden Guinn, calmly stood shackled before a judge as the couple faced a murder charge.
Police said the pair shot 89-year-old Margaret Hindsley multiple times in her bedroom at her condo complex that mostly houses retirees.

Hindsley was breathing when medics found her, but she later died at the hospital.

Police would not say if anything was taken or missing from the condo.
Yusco had been Hindsley’s caregiver for more than four months. She’d help prepare meals, wash clothes and clean the condo.

Police are still investigating how Yusco and Hindsley first connected. They said the couple confessed the crime to Guinn’s parents, and his father then called 9-1-1.

Officers said while Guinn would not talk to them, detectives did interview Yusco for several hours.
Both are being held without bond on first-degree murder and armed burglary charges.

Guinn served in the Air Force and has no criminal record. Yusco was arrested for domestic violence in 2019, but charges were dropped.

A caregiver who prosecutors said combined with her husband to kill an elderly woman she was supposed to be caring for as the woman slept in her Ponce Inlet condo was sentenced Thursday to 60 years in prison.
Micayla Yusko, 24, was adjudicated guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of 89-year-old Margaret Hindsley on Jan. 5, 2022. Hindsley was shot twice in the head.

Yusko and her husband, Tyden Guinn, 27, were each indicted on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and burglary with a battery, (occupied dwelling, firearm) in Hindsley's murder.
Yusko pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of second-degree murder with a firearm, as part of a plea deal filed April 25. Yusko also pleaded no contest to the burglary with a battery charge.
Yusko made a statement to the court expressing remorse. She said that Hindsley had treated her well and that she could talk to Hindsley about anything. She said that Hindsley had prayed with her.
"I am so sorry," Yusko said.
