Big Mama Charged With Killing 6-Week-Old Son

Police in one Eastern Carolina city have charged a mother with killing her 6-week-old son.

Briasia Somerville was arrested today for first degree murder and felony child abuse for the death of the infant.

The 21-year-old is also charged with felony child abuse for injuries to her five-year-old child.

Washington police say they were notified on September 2nd of a suspicious death. The infant died at ECU Health Medical Center, police say, with an autopsy reporting his injuries were consistent with abuse.
