Police say a Texas mother has been charged with murder in the death of her 2-month-old baby, KFDA reports.

Officers responded to a call about a baby not breathing around 6:25 p.m. last Tuesday at a home in Amarillo, Texas. Police say when responders arrived, the 2-month-old girl was dead.

During an investigation, police say evidence was found to place the baby’s mother, 19-year-old Ashley Harper, under arrest for injury to a child. She was booked into the Potter County Detention Center that night.

All of these stupid fucks who don't have sense enough to ditch the kid properly, should be required to make public service announcements about how to do that. The videos could be made in jail.
All jokes aside, there REALLY needs to be constant public broadcasts made about Safe Haven laws and locations. With Roe vs Wade being overturned and a lot of states making access to safe abortion limited I think we are going to see a lot more of this. But in our Puritanical society there is a lot of, "She spread her legs, now she has to take 'sponsibility!" (insert tobacco chewing/spitting here) When we stop punishing people for having sex and start addressing easy access to birth control and abortions then maybe we'll see the results we want.

In the meantime, fuck her, she didn't want the baby then ask the social worker in the hospital about her options. Either seek support for aftercare of infant or make an adoption plans. Don't kill your baby.

Sadly there's some truth to the tobacco spitting idiots. However, folks innately have needs and will be of course have sex without second thoughts. It's a real mess. Birth control I definitely agree needs to be made more available. I also know that most states will help a woman out, even if an abortion is needed. People get on their high horse and judge instead of try to make the situation better. And as for this woman, she's where she belongs.

for the people that do say "she spread her legs now it is her responsibility" they forget it takes 2 ... don't they realize that "he sticked his wick now it is his responsibility too"... way back when i taught my kids , both boys and girls", it was their responsibility if it ended in pregnancy,,, boy if their is the tiniest chance it is yours then it is yours,, be prepared to pay for not only when the baby is born but also through out the pregnancy,,,, she didn't create that live by herself she doesn't deserve to have full responsibility.... back then girls couldn't just go on birthcontrol or have abortions without a good medical reason :(.... so girls if it isn't wrapped it is a no go (now it would be make sure you are on b/c of some sort but also if it isn't wrapped don't take a chance in getting more than what you bargained for... boys if you can' keep it wrap keep it in your pants not only will it help where pregnancy is concerned but also protect you from possible deases..... b/c is the responsibility of both parties not just the female

save havens are wonderful but it should be amended to include babies up to one year because some people do find out for any number of reasons that they can't make it... their choices would be made so much easier without the pressures of family, friends but most of all children services to keep your baby, that decision should be yours and yours only if the father of the child doesn't share the responsibilities with you...

Safe haven laws actually differ from state to state. There was an article posted here many years ago where a father found a loophole and dropped off his teen and preteen kids at a fire station and there wasn't anything that could be done because he did not break the law. He was overwhelmed with single parenting and there was no mother in the picture. That particular state quickly closed the loophole. However some states are a lot more lenient with the age range for exactly the reason you mentioned.

I was looking into adoption not too long ago and was introduced to a little known adoption situation. There are cases of parents likely to lose their children for failure to comply with the parenting plan for reunification. some of the mothers were incarcerated and would not be free for many year, some were severe addicts and already being TPR'd, you get the point. Anyways, it was a way for the parent to have some say-so in picking (from a preselected pool) who would raise their children. I think it's a good program.

The attorney for an Amarillo woman accused of killing her two-month-old daughter questions whether she is competent to stand trial.
He filed a motion asking a judge to appoint someone to determine Ashley Harper's competency.
Mike Warner made the request after speaking with Harper's family about her childhood and mental capacity.
Police were called to Harper's home on Feb. 21 for a baby not breathing.
Harper, 19, was initially charged with injury to a child. Charges were upgraded to murder on Feb. 28.
According to the criminal complaint, Harper hit Diaz in the head with her hand. Harper confessed to the murder during questioning.

I don’t believe Satanica was joking, and personally I think it’s a great idea. Let these parents see where they could end up and how easy it is to avoid it.
Totally agree with everything else you’ve stated. Things are going to get exponentially worse very quickly.
