A 12-year-old girl died after being stabbed in Liverpool city centre, in an attack that has shocked the city.

Four boys – one aged 13, two aged 14, and one aged 15, all from Toxteth – have been arrested on suspicion of murder following Ava White’s death.

Merseyside Police said Ava suffered “catastrophic injuries” in an assault on Thursday night following a verbal argument in the city at 8.39pm, shortly after the Christmas lights switch on took place.

Police discovered her collapsed on the ground as a member of the public who witnessed the attack was giving her first aid. Paramedics attended and she was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she died a short time later.

Police believe Ava and her friends were involved in a verbal argument which led to her being assaulted.

A Home Office post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
“Ava’s death should be a reminder to us all about the part that we each have to play in eliminating violence against women and girls,” he added.

“Ava died on White Ribbon Day which is a global campaign to end violence against women, and yesterday partners from around the city joined together to mark the day, which is also the start of 16 days of activity designed to raise awareness of VAWG and show how we are working together to make sure that VAWG is something that should not be tolerated in any society.”

I doubt they'll ever become functioning members of society, so no loss there. They should be torn apart by an angry mob. Something needs to change, because what we're doing now isn't working to rehabilitate these fucks or to keep them safely confined so they can't hurt anyone else.

Schoolgirl Ava White begged her friends not to leave her as she lay dying on the ground after being fatally stabbed, a court has been told.

Pre-recorded evidence from friends who were with the 12-year-old in Liverpool city centre on the day of the stabbing was played at Liverpool Crown Court during the trial of a 14-year-old boy accused of Ava’s murder.
In one police interview, a 15-year-old girl told how she ran after the defendant as she thought he had punched Ava in the neck. She then returned to see the victim lying on the floor.

“I remember her saying to us ‘don’t leave me’. That’s the last words I heard out of her mouth,” she told the officers.
The witness said she noticed the defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, filming Ava with three other boys while in the city centre and asked them to delete the videos.

The 15-year-old girl told police she had also argued with the accused, adding: “He was going ‘you scruff, you scruff’ and calling me a slag and all that.”

The boy maintains that the friend’s claims are not true, Nick Johnson QC, defending, told the court.

The group of boys then walked away, the girl continued, but the defandant proceeded to shout “look at the state of youse” to the friends and Ava “flipped”.

“Obviously Ava was already angry and she wasn’t going to sit there and let a boy speak to her like that,” the witness said.

At 9.10pm on 25 November last year, police visited the home of the defendant just over half an hour after Ava was stabbed, the court heard.

In a statement, PC Michael Eccleston said the boy’s mother answered the door and rang her son. He refused to tell police where he was and hung up after speaking to the officer’s colleague.

PC Eccleston said the defendant was arrested after he was seen walking down a street at about 10.30pm.

The boy attempted to evade a police vehicle by running past him but he blocked the boy’s path with his body, he added.

Ava died as a result of the stab wound to her neck, Home Office pathologist Dr Jonathan Medcalf said, which was approximately five to six centimetres long and damaged her windpipe and jugular vein, causing catastrophic bleeding.

He believed a moderate degree of force was used.

He added: “I can’t say it was severe but I can’t say it was gentle. I don’t think it was mild force, for example.”

The court heard the blade of the knife measured seven and a half centimetres from tip to hilt.

The 14-year-old defendant denies murder and an alternative charge of manslaughter.

A 15-year-old boy has been jailed for life for murdering a 12-year-old schoolgirl who was stabbed in the neck after a Christmas light switch-on.
Ava White was fatally injured in Liverpool city centre with a flick knife after an argument broke out when she was filmed on the social media app, Snapchat.

Despite medics best efforts the Year Eight Notre Dame Catholic College pupil died a short time later in hospital, on 25 November 2021.

Her killer, from south Liverpool and who was 14 at the time of the stabbing, cannot be named for legal reasons,
Sentencing, Mrs Justice Amanda Yip said to Boy A: “There is only one reason why Ava is dead; because you chose to carry a knife and chose to get it out and use it.“It was a nasty weapon, and you should not have had it."

The court heard, after stabbing Ava, Boy A laughed and ran away, before ditching the knife, designer coat and mobile phone in a "cover-up".
CCTV showed him and his friends in a shop where the defendant took a selfie and the group bought butter, which he said was for crumpets.

He then went to a friend’s home and when his mother contacted him because police wanted to speak to him he told her he was playing a computer game.

He had text his mother saying that he was "not going to the cells" after the stabbing.
Boy A gave a false alibi to police and blamed another boy for killing Ava, before changing his story and claiming he acted in "self-defence."He said he "didn't mean to" stab the girl and was "trying to get her away" because he thought she was a boy who might be armed.
Ava's friends who witnessed the altercation said the boy “grinned” after stabbing her.

The schoolgirl's last words to her friends as she lay dying on the ground were "don't leave me", the court heard.
A 20-second clip showing Ava White being stabbed was played during the trial, leaving family members who were present in the public gallery in tears.

Boy A admitted possessing the knife, which the court heard had a 7.5cm blade, but denied her murder and manslaughter.
On Monday, Boy A was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 13 years, for the murder of Ava White.
Rejecting calls for the young killer's anonymity to be lifted, Mrs Justice Amanda Yip said: "This offence has given rise to a very high level of interest.

"I well understand why Ava’s family wants him to be named. In this case, there are real and immediate concerns for the defendant if his identity becomes more widely known
.“Having considered all the circumstances, I have concluded that the public interest is outweighed by the need to safeguard the welfare of the defendant.“There is evidence that the authorities harbour a genuine concern to safeguard him.“I take into account the safety and welfare of his family. I refuse the application for an expecting direction.”

Baby thug gets to keep his identity secret to protect his safety. In 13 years if he does that long who will protect society from him.
