A warrant has been issued for the mother of a little boy found wandering in Colerain Township.

Police say they found the boy at Gaines and Sheed Road. He is non-verbal with Autism, and is between 5 and 7 years old.

A warrant was signed by detectives to find the mother, Heather Nicole Adkins. Police say that the child resided in Shelbyville, Indiana and was abandoned 75 miles away from home and found by police an hour later.

The boy has been identified by police, but they have not revealed his identity.

He was driven to Colerain Township where he was abandoned in the area of Sheed Road and Gaines Road and was discovered approximately an hour later by passing motorists.
Detectives have signed warrants on the child's mother, Heather Nicole Adkins(DOB 4/12/1989), in connection with this incident.

Heather Nicole Adkins says she did not abandon her 5-year-old son who was found Thursday in Colerain Township.

Assistant Police Chief Darin Allgood with the Georgetown Police Department says Adkins, 32, was arrested in Georgetown, Kentucky, on Saturday for an unpaid fine in 2011.

Allgood says the arrest happened after officers responded to reports of an unknown woman banging on car windows at a gas station.

He also says Adkins gave them a fake name.

From jail in Georgetown, Kentucky, Adkins confirmed that she is the mother of three children including 5-year-old Martin Thomas Adkins who is autistic and non-verbal.

Adkins says she left Thomas with a friend and did not abandon him.

“I didn’t. That’s why he was left there and I’m to go back there so he knows that I never left him. It’s just going to take a long time for him to trust me again and for me to trust myself as well,” she said.

But Adkins’s story changed several times as she spoke from the jail.

She even claimed that she never left Thomas in Colerain and he was with his brothers at her friend’s house in Tennessee.

“My kids are fine. All my kids are at my friend Crystal’s. You have to check. That’s what I’m telling you. All three of my children are down there with Crystal already,” Adkins said.

Crystalyn Davis confirmed to FOX19 NOW that Adkins dropped off two of her children at her home in Tennessee on Thursday.

Davis says the boys, who are brothers of the 5-year-old, are still in her care.

Adkins then said that she left Thomas with several different people in Colerain.

At one point, she said she did not know how he ended up wet and cold on the side of Gaines Road Thursday where Ronald Reese found him.

“If you didn’t want to deal with your child or your son, take him to the nearest relative that you feel is fit to take care of him and be responsible for him. If not go to the nearest safe haven for the child,” Reese said.

Adkins did eventually say Thomas was left alone.

”No, I didn’t leave him with anyone. I knew I would be forgiven. It would take a long time. I just had to be able to get rid of one last demon. All the burdens that I’ve carried for all these years that were never meant to be mine.”

According to jail records, Adkins is from Shelbyville, Indiana which is about 75 miles from where 5-year-old Thomas was found in Colerain Township.

He is now in the custody of Hamilton County Job and Family Services.

“These types of cases simply break your heart. All children should grow up loved and wanted. I hope the child ultimately lands in a caring, loving home,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said Sunday.

It is still unclear as to why Adkins was in Kentucky during the time of her arrest.

Court records show Adkins faces one count of endangering children.

she was charge with child abuse only?? she was abandoning that poor boy to die literally as he couldn't even talk,... if to safe him from herself why didn't she drop him with her brothers for awhile to give her time to make other arrangements for him?? "I just had to be able to get rid of one last demon. All the burdens that I’ve carried for all these years that were never meant to be mine.” was she calling her son her one last demon? and she made those kids she chose to keep them!!! were they the burden that were never meant to be hers?? maybe if saw all her children as the joy and miracle that they are her burdens would be way lighter and she would be happy to have them and yes there is help available when you have autistic children all you have to do is ask and look till you find what is required... and here at least children services will provide emergency receiving to help parents till they are better equipped to deal with them, to have other services lined up to help you out, have a support person or person's to relie on etc

This broad is batshit crazy. "I knew I would be forgiven" shes never been held accountable for anything in her life and her first line of defense is lie, lie, lie.

If they give any of those kids back she will end up killing one of them.

If you can't handle more kids or the risk of having a kid that has issues then shut your fucking legs. You can't just take a break from life by dumping your kid on the side of the road.

I bet she marked up his face before she abandoned him. Take away her kids since she obviously doesn’t have enough sense to care for them. Feed her gruel and hose her down once a month. Sterilize her. Then, release her when her kids have all turned 18 with a no contact order for anyone under 18.

Either the children are triplets or from three different sperm donors. I can't believe someone bonked her three times! Are they sure there aren't three more children hidden under her chin??

ITA that she's probably gotten away with plenty of crap and always been forgiven, not held accountable.

And as for her "one last demon" remark, what does that even mean???

A useless ovary was indicted Friday for abandoning her young son, now 6, on the side of a road. Heather Nicole Adkins, 32, faces one count of kidnapping and one count of child endangering.
According to the Hamilton County prosecuting attorney’s office in Ohio, a driver found the boy, then 5, alone on Sheed Road in Colerain Township. The child–who police have said is non-verbal and on the autism spectrum–was soaking wet from the rain.
”I immediately stopped and I was like ‘Wait a minute, this isn’t normal,’” the bystander, who found the boy, told WKYT.

He said he found the child while on the way to pick up food for dinner. The child looked like he was “in a daze as he walked along a road with no sidewalks.”
“Officers ultimately were able to identify the victim based on a tip called in by a citizen from Shelbyville, Indiana,” prosecutors wrote on Friday. “They also determined that this child’s mother, Heather Adkins, was known to drive a white Chevrolet Trailblazer.”

Cops had determined that the boy was dropped off on Copper Creek Lane from a white Chevrolet Traiblazer.

Adkins was taken into custody after a 911 call about her “acting irrationally,” Georgetown Police Assistant Chief Darin Allgood in Kentucky has told WKRC. Authorities learned that she had an unpaid fine from 2011.
She and another adult had dropped off two of her other children at a friend’s home in Tazewell, Tennessee. She went back with the other adult towards Indiana, but they abandoned the boy in Ohio, authorities said.
It took her a while to give WKYT straight answers about why she left the boy on the road. She first said she meant to leave him with someone named “Patty,” then said, “No, I left him there with Brad, didn’t I.” Then when reporter Jeremy Tombs confronted her on the contradictory answers, she said, “No, I didn’t leave him with anyone.”

He asked Adkins why she did it.

“To save him for me,” she said.

Former legal guardian of abandoned boy with autism says she’s disappointed biological mother ever regained custody

CINCINNATI (WXIX/Gray News) – The former caregiver of a nonverbal 5-year-old boy with autism who was abandoned by his mother in the rain 70 miles from his home is devastated by what happened.

Heather Adkins is accused of leaving her 5-year-old autistic non-verbal son, Martin Thomas Adkins, alone in Colerain Township, Ohio. She is now in jail on charges of kidnapping and endangering children.

According to court records obtained by WXIX, Martin Thomas had scratches on his face and ears and had decayed teeth when he was found on Feb. 17.

“It’s very emotional for me, very emotional, because I know what them kids have been through, and knowing that Martin got dumped off in Ohio, I just, I just don’t understand,” said the former legal guardian, who did not want to be identified.

Heather Adkins has pleaded guilty to child endangerment for abandoning her 5-year-old son on a dark road in Colerain Township.
In court Monday, Adkins Admitted to the facts of the case but denied that she indented to harm her son.

Her plea did not involve a sentencing agreement. She faces up to three years in prison.

Heather Adkins was sentenced to six months in a lockdown facility where she will receive mental health and substance abuse treatment.

After her release from River City Correctional Center in Camp Washington, Heather Adkins will be on probation for three years. Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Jennifer Branch, who handed down the sentence Wednesday, also ordered Adkins, 33, to stay away from her son.

I hope the little boy is kept well away from her. Maybe he was placed with non family because I could see grandma letting her have him on weekends and such until he's back with her all the time. She'll hurt him if there's a next time.
