A Stafford man was charged in the drowning death of his 3-year-old son.

Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Fleetwood Farm Road around 1:19 p.m. on September 16, 2021 for a report of a drowning. An investigation revealed the child drowned in an above-ground pool in the backyard of the home. He was under the care of his father Daniel Neely at the time.

Evidence was presented to a grand jury on indictments of felony homicide and abuse and neglect of a child.

I have a six foot cat townhouse with three levels my 2 year old grandson made it to the four foot level to “try” to reach the top terrace for the “baby” kitty ..
Oh we have a bar level kitchen table and I can't tell you how often I'd find one grandkid, in particular, that I'd catch 'dancing on the table'.

My two smallest children who was walking by 9mo and climbing by 10mo, has taught me that anything is possible.. The thing that threw me off however, is this indifferent smile on the sperm donors face. He for sure did something wrong.
He's proud?

An above ground swimming pool may take a 3yo maybe 2.3 seconds longer to get into than an in ground pool, which would be the time it takes to climb the ladder. My oldest was walking at 8mos, I would not hae been surprised to find him sitting on top to the refrigerator laughing like a gremlin. We always said he had monkey toes cause he could free climb anything. He's 42 now, not so much climbing anymore, one of his grandmonkeys, she's 5, was teaching how to meditate yesterday, So at least he's calm now. LOL

Fair enough, I’ve never had tiny hoomans so I’m unaware of their (seemingly excellent) climbing abilities. In general, toddlers + pools (of any type) = possible danger!

A Stafford County man who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after his young son drowned while in his care last year was ordered Tuesday to serve six months in prison.

Daniel Neely was sentenced to seven years with all but six months suspended.
