A 3-month-old baby is in critical condition after allegedly being punched in the head multiple times by a man in a Gaffney home.

According to Gaffney Police, Justin Keith Crowe was watching the baby Thursday while his mother and grandmother went to the grocery store.

Police said Crowe called them because the baby would not stop crying.

When they returned to the home, the baby was unresponsive, police said.

They took the baby to the ER, where he was airlifted to the hospital. The baby’s condition is listed as critical, according to police.

Crowe was then taken to the police station, where he confessed to hitting the baby several times in the head with a closed fist.

Justin Crowe is now being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center, charged with abuse of a child resulting in great bodily injury, and he has a $50,000 surety bond.

“Everything was fine when we left. He was smiling, he was cooing, he was just so happy,” Beverly Hueston said.

Hueston and her step-mother, Donna Smith, went to the grocery store on Thursday to pick up diapers for Hueston’s son, Brock. While they were out, they trusted Hueston’s former boyfriend, Justin Crowe, to babysit.

They told 7 News they came home about half an hour later.

“He looked dead. It terrified me,” Donna Smith said. “All black and blue and swollen. He wasn’t crying. He couldn’t open his eyes.”

“Two brain bleeds, crushed larynx, and several broken ribs,” Chief Chris Skinner, with the Gaffney Police Department, said. “They advised that the next 72 hours are crucial in whether the baby lives or passes away.”

“Had I thought that this was even a possibility, absolutely not would I have left my son in his care,” Hueston said.

What a potato faced punk ass bitch. Nothing a 3 month old does could possibly warrant that type of anger and response. He punched that poor baby in the throat. I don’t have social media, and therefore don’t share pics of my family (wouldn’t on SM anyway), but every time I read these beaten infant stories I wonder what my daughter could’ve done as an infant for me to react like that. She’s two, and a holy terror sometimes, but still rarely consider throat punching her.

Remember marriage, baby shower, cooing aunts and grandmothers, baptism (I'm not religious), hubby's paycheck, family dinner table (not ordered-in), chores, responsibilities, rules, manners, playing outdoors, not being as wide as tall, teen boys not needing b-cup bras, etc.? My family was rather dysfunctional, but we experienced these things most of the time, even if there was plenty of trouble. These days, every third or fourth girl gets a big belly in the most casual, thoughtless way, the guy evaporates, Uncle Sam pays, mommy gets fresh dick, dick doesn't work, babysits kids, police and courts involved, rinse repeat, dissolution of Western Civ. But at least Dreamin' Demon thrives - so, there's that.

Of course, I should probably shut up, it's not like she's a Demon and reads this kind of story all the time.

This "kill the other man's spawn" theme feels like some ancient drive, you see in lion prides, for example. I wonder if pheromones could play some part, besides all the emotional frustration. What is the core trigger for the overkill assault of an infant?

Seriously. These two don't sound like they're all that bright. What's so hard about taking a small baby to the grocery store with you? An infant car seat can fit in a shopping cart. "Oh no, I think leaving him with this potentially hostile and jealous unrelated male is a better idea!"

When will women (men too) that dating and having sex with a person does not make them love your child.

I know it is not all but if a person truly cares about you and your child they would understand why as a parent you have reservations about them caring for your child.

The crushed Larynx is an indicator that this man was attempting to make the child stop crying. What other abuse has this baby been subjected to when mom was not around.

Mom did not think and I would as a mom rather offend someone then risk the safety of my child.
 
I'm hearing from an anonymous source close to one of the involved parties that Beverly has other kids (possibly 3?) in Arizona. Reportedly, she left them behind to move to South Carolina to escape a couple of failure to appear warrants after being charged with child or vulnerable adult abuse in 2017.

The same person who told me that also mentioned that Justin and Beverly dated off and on for a year and a half, and that a DNA test is pending to find out who Brock's father is. I don't know where that "only dated for a couple of days" thing came from; did Beverly say that in an interview or something?

A judge sentenced Justin Keith Crowe to 20 years in jail. He is able to get 13 years with two years probation if he has decent behavior, takes mental health counseling, and anger management counseling.

Brock's mother, Beverly Hueston said, "Brock is doing well. He is about two years old now and is a big brother."

Beverly mentioned that she is very happy justice was served and that the other children in the county are now safe.
