A 2-year-old boy injured both parents and himself after firing a handgun he found on a nightstand in a West Bath, Maine home Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the residence around 8 a.m. according to the Bangor Daily News. The child’s mother, 22, was struck in the leg and his father, 25, sustained a minor injury to the back of the head, according to police.

The boy was also injured when the gun recoiled, striking him in the face. All three were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry told WMTW.

Police said the couple also have a 3-week-old baby who was in the room when the shooting happened, according to the Bangor Daily News. The infant is now in the care of a grandmother who lives at the residence but wasn’t there during the incident.

Kids got better aim than the dumbasses doin drive-bys
I always wonder if there’s a lot of unreported shootings where a kid hits the wall or ceiling and the parents just cover it up to to avoid getting in trouble. I bet this happens quite often.

Im just not buying this one. unless it was one bullet that hit both parents. I mean the kid is two between the sound and the recoil hitting him in the face I highly doubt a 2 year old would pull the trigger a second time.
Trying to figure out how the dude got hit in the back of the head and the woman got hit in the leg....
Was he going down on her, mom was screaming out and baby boy got the gun to protect her?

A Maine father has been arrested after his 2-year-old son got a hold of his gun and shot it at his sleeping parents — striking his mom in the leg while his newborn sibling was in the room, according to authorities and a report.

Ian Carr, of West Bath, turned himself in after police issued a warrant for his arrest for endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.

The toddler found a Glock 9mm on his parent’s nightstand and fired it toward the sleeping couple in their bedroom, police said, according to WGME 13. The boy’s mother, 22, was struck in her leg, while Carr, 25, was hit in the head by bullet fragments, the local news station reported.

A 3-month-old baby was in the room at the time of the incident, but was unscathed, according to WGME 13.
The couple’s two children are now in the custody of unspecified family members, according to the report.
