A California man killed three teens when he intentionally rammed his car into theirs, authorities said.

Anurag Chandra, 42, of Corona, was arrested shortly after the late Sunday crash that sent a Toyota Prius into a tree in Temescal Valley, where cops found his white Infiniti sedan with front-end damage, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reports.

“It was an intentional act,” California Highway Patrol Lt. David Yokley told reporters Monday. “Our investigation led us to believe Mr. Chandra intentionally rammed the Prius, causing the driver to lose control. The investigation has now changed from a hit-run collision to homicide.”

Witnesses led cops to Chandra after the crash. It’s unclear if road rage was involved, but investigators believe the teen victims knew the man was targeting them. He’s now facing charges of suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon, Yokley said.

“We really don’t know,” Yokley said of a possible motive. “Obviously, there was some sort of contact. We are looking into those exact same questions, of whether or not he was known to the victims.”

This guy's a mass murderer, undisputed intentional first degree, depraved-heart, malice aforethought, maybe some victims legally children, driving to endanger, vehicular homicide, etc., but Governor Gavin Nuisance has abolished the death penalty in Commiefornia. Cali's sliding into the sea without an earthquake.

Drake Ruiz, of Corona, Daniel Hawkins, of Corona, and Jacob Ivascu, of Riverside, were on their way to a sleepover with three other friends celebrating a birthday when they decided to play a prank by ringing on the doorbell of another teen before driving away.

“The boys were playing ding dong ditch at a house they thought was somebody their age — but it turned out to be that angry man,” Ruiz' mother, Debbie Ruiz, told reporters Monday night.

That man was 42-year-old Anurag Chandra, of Corona.

The mother said that after the teens rang his doorbell and split, Chandra got into his white Infiniti and chased after them in their Toyota Prius.

That's when the California Highway Patrol said that the teens' vehicle was intentionally run off the road.

The Prius ran off the road and slammed into a tree near the intersection of Temescal Canyon Road and Trilogy Parkway.

Ruiz, Hawkins and Ivascu were all killed in the crash. They were only 16 years old.

Two 13-year-old boys and the 18-year-old driver were also injured and transported to the hospital. None of their injuries were said to be life-threatening.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether any of the teens were wearing seat belts, authorities said.

A witness said they saw the accident and followed the suspect to a nearby home, where CHP officers later located and arrested him. The white Infinity that was parked in front of the residence had significant front-end damage.

Chandra was booked on suspicion of murder with malice and assault with a deadly weapon.

Craig Hawkins' last memory of his son, Daniel, is a happy one.

He remembers the 16-year-old boy tossing a football with friends from church. Hours before, the group had gleefully planned a sleepover, something they hadn't done in months.

Hawkins left his Corona, California, home Sunday evening for plans in Los Angeles County before the tragedy unfolded.

Authorities say that around 10 p.m., one of the boys rang the doorbell of Anurag Chandra, then ran to a waiting Toyota Prius. Investigators have called it a "doorbell ditch" dare.

There were six boys in the car: Daniel, his 13-year-old brother Joshua and four friends.

Chandra, 42, chased the Prius in his Infinity Q50, officials said.

He bore down at a high speed and rammed the car, causing the Prius to spin out of control and slam into a tree on the side of the road, California Highway Patrol officer Juan Quintero said.

An October, 2019 photo shows Jacob Ivascu and Sergio Campusano sitting on the shoulders of Drake Ruiz and Daniel Hawkins during a youth event organized by Northpoint Evangelical Free Church of Corona, California.
Three 16-year-olds — Daniel, Jacob Ivascu and Drake Ruiz — died in the crash. Joshua and two other boys survived with injuries.

In the days after officials announced murder charges against Chandra, family and church leaders remember the boys as a tight-knit group of committed Christians — goofy boys who loved sports, video games and their youth group.

That's why Craig Hawkins wasn't surprised by the impromptu sleepover. When his son asked “Dad ... can they come over tonight?” his immediate answer was "of course."

Three kids gone forever because this jackass drank 12 beers and got angry. He annihilated those kids. I hope he goes to hell in a flaming ball of misery.
