DENVER - A man wanted in connection with the rape of a young girl in Ohio 15 years ago was arrested in Westminster Friday afternoon.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Colorado Violent Offenders Task Force, the Denver County Sheriff’s Office and Westminster Police Department arrested David Lee Skelly, 40, outside the Residence Inn where he worked. He tried to flee from authorities but was taken into custody.
Skelly also went by the name Herman Maurice Singleton.
He's wanted by Toledo, Ohio police for eight counts of rape and sexual assault on a minor under the age of 13. The arrest warrant is from March 2, 2001.
Over the years, U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force received leads placing Skelly all over the country and even into Mexico. They never gave up on the case, despite the fact that Skelly was presumed dead at one point. Skelly was also profiled on America’s Most Wanted several times.
