A Florida woman received quite the surprise Friday afternoon when she saw a dog wandering in her front yard and found an unaccompanied little girl sitting on a chair in her carport. Now the child’s mother, 27-year-old Aquania Aleshia Estes, and her 29-year-old boyfriend Pitrez Floyd are behind bars.
The neighbor called the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office around 4:30 p.m. Friday after discovering the child and dog outside her Deltona home, a press release said.

Per deputies, the girl told the neighbor she was “hot, thirsty and hungry.” She brought the girl food, water, toys and clean clothes as deputies tried to find her parents. Cops posted body camera footage of deputies’ interaction with the girl.
“Mommy and daddy needed to go charge their cell phones,” the child told deputies according to an arrest affidavit obtained by local Fox affiliate WOFL.

She also said she did not attend school.

Medical personnel responded to the scene to take the girl’s vital signs and they came back OK, per deputies.
Cops tracked down Estes and Floyd some nine hours later, the press release said. Body camera footage showed deputies were incredulous at the situation.

“You leave your kid on the side of the f—in’ road?” a deputy asked.
Estes explained that they were homeless and “live in the forest,” the video showed.

“She got out from where she was staying at,” the mother reassoned. “I was trying to go get water and food. We have been going through a rough time.”

Deputies discovered the area where the family had been living which consisted of two tents in the woods.
Estes and Floyd were arrested on charges of desertion of a child and abandonment of an animal. The girl was placed into custody of her grandparents.

At the 2:36 mark the arrest happens. The mother says they are homeless and the girl got out I guess the ten

They need to be staying at a shelter. There are ones for women and children. There is no way in hell I would let my kid live in a damn tent.
and there is no way in heck i would my child by herself from sometimes in the morning till?? as the were arrested when it was dark especially without food or water in the woods.. that little girl didn't even leave her dog alone she had more sense than her parents...and the mother saying "she got out of where she was at" makes me think they left her in the tent with the doorway zippered and somehow maybe even fasten down otherwise a 6 y.o. would be able to unzip it and go outsidor did they mean the woods? there is no way in heck a child would just sit there for hours upon hours and not explore, they are lucky she went towards houses and not deeper into the woods .. the little one said they needed to go charge their phone the mom said get food and water so why didn't they bring her with them??? they didn't even bother going back to check on her .. poor baby :( .. it doesn't need 2 to go charge phones or get food and water why didn't one stay behind with their child especially since they lived in a tent in the woods?? what is wrong with people?????? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

She seems a very sweet, innocent little girl, I really hope she finds a family that will love her and take care of her. Her hair looks so matted, I hope they don't hurt her trying to clean it up. She looks, sounds and bounces about just like Grandmonkey. Strangers cared more than her her own mother did.
