An infant's body was found inside a motel room in Baytown where SWAT officers had negotiated with whom they believe was the child's mother, police said Tuesday.

According to the Baytown Police Department, officers were called to the Scottish Inn on a Crime Stoppers tip that stated a dead child was in one of the rooms.

Officers arrived around 8 a.m. when they found a door open and a woman armed with a long gun, police said.

The woman refused to come out of the room, prompting police to call SWAT officers.

The woman remained in the room until around 1:25 p.m. when she was taken into custody.

But shortly after that, police found the small child's body. The cause of the child's death is not immediately known, but police said the infant did not appear to be shot.

The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to an area hospital, the Chronicle reported. No criminal charges have been filed, Dorris told the newspaper.

The cause of the infant’s death is not immediately known, but police said the child did not appear to be shot, KTRK reported.
No charges? Possible attempted murder - suicide?
Police said there was no obvious sign of trauma to the baby's body.

The gender and age of the child were not released.

It could simply be that the baby died of SIDS or even accidentally suffocated during co-sleeping and the mother reacted badly to the situation. I mean if it was me I'd be screaming and calling 111 (NZ emergency number), and not reaching for a gun and holing myself up in the room but ya know...different strokes for different folks....

I will be interested to know what actually happens....hopefully more gets released soon.

I live near Houston. The local news said that LE got an anonymous call that indicated there may be a deceased infant in that hotel room. They went to the room the mom had a long gun on her lap, which caused a stand off. I think the mom may have had a still birth and freaked out. Possibly, threatening suicide. JMO.

Motel death of an infant often has a drug element. Kid accidently ends up with some of moms stash from the bedside table and mom has not enough sense to get help because she started on the stash first. Kid dies and mom doesn't realize until she starts to sober up. At which point she threatens to commit suicide. Just a wild guess.

A good guess. Motels are horrible places for kids to live. They offer nothing for a child to thrive, feel stable, have outdoor activities, and be kept away or safe from adult behavior and situations not suitable for children.

We were in a LaQuinta for two weeks after the 2015 tornado, so I agree. Even there (a nice one) there was some sort of altercation or drunk yelling in the parking lot near where we were parked, and I had to wait to leave one evening due to that. Now, there's a Motel 6 down the highway that I imagine would've been really awful since it's reputation is already pretty well known.

A Baytown woman is wanted after she failed to appear in court in early March.

Nikki Ann Reardon is charged with tampering and fabricating with evidence in connection with the death of her 2-month-old baby girl Zaydea Danyelea Rainer. In January, the Medical Examiner’s Office said the cause of the infant’s death was “undetermined.”

According to the court documents, Reardon is accused of endangering a child and concealing her daughter’s body in September. Baytown Police said they received a Crime Stopper’s tip that there was a dead baby in a room at the Scottish Inn and Suites, located at 6802 Garth Road.

On Sept. 29, Baytown police went to the hotel room after receiving the tip and said they found the door to the room open. They found Reardon inside in just a sports bra and shorts.

Police said they saw children's clothing and toys within the room and asked her about the child multiple times. She ignored their questions and began walking to the other side of the room.

According to court documents, Reardon then grabbed a rifle and began crying that “it was an accident," and referring to her baby. Police said she yelled that the child had a seizure and that when she woke up the baby was cold.

Police said Reardon began acting frantically and was refusing to drop the weapon. She then walked towards the bathroom within the motel room and hid behind a wall.

Police then got a search warrant and Baytown SWAT was called to the scene after police said negotiations with Reardon were unsuccessful.

She was eventually taken into custody and transported to Houston Methodist Baytown for medical treatment.

When police conducted a search of the room, they found a large pink duffel bag hidden inside of a built-in cabinet case. Detectives said they opened the pink case and saw a large plastic bag inside of it that was tied in a knot.

Detectives untied the knot and found the child’s body covered in ice inside of the plastic bag, according to court documents.

Police also found what they believed to be crystal methamphetamine and marijuana during the search of the hotel room.

According to court documents, police discovered that Glenn Rainer Jr. was the father of the child and identified Reardon as the mother. He told police that Reardon and her daughter has been moving in and out of motel rooms within the Baytown area since the infant was born.

Rainer also told police that he would talk with them via FaceTime almost daily and Reardon would point the camera towards the child so he could see her. However, on Sept. 27, when they talked, he said Reardon refused to show the child.

Reardon told police that on Sept. 27 she was packing some items from the room and the baby was on the bed. Police said, when they interviewed Reardon, she admitted she had a history of illegal drug usage and a history of having seizures.

Reardon told police that when she woke up from a seizure she found the child dead and lying face down on the bed next to her. She explained she did not call for medical assistance because it was "too late, she (the baby) wasn't breathing, what were they going to do."

According to court documents, Reardon said she held the child for 48 hours and then the victim began to “smell” and “bubbles” began to come from her nostrils. That is when she began putting ice on the body.

Later, a person Reardon knew only as “J” arrived at the room and she told them about the baby passing away. “J” bought a shovel to help bury the child. However, they got into an argument and “J” left the room.

Reardon also admitted to police that she had meth in the room and that she was selling it and cocaine as a means of income.

Why did the dad leave his baby with this meth head?

A Baytown woman who was wanted after her daughter was found dead inside a duffle bag full of ice last year is now in custody, according to police.

Nikki Reardon, 32, had been on the run since the incident occurred in September 2020. Her 2-month-old baby was found dead in a room at the Scottish Inn Suites in Baytown.
According to court records, Reardon told officers she was selling methamphetamine and cocaine to make a living. The day the baby died, she claims she was packing some stuff in the hotel at 8 a.m. and woke up at 4:15 p.m. to find the baby face down on the bed.

Reardon reportedly told officers she didn't call for an ambulance because, "It was too late. She wasn't breathing. What were they going to do?"

Reardon did not appear in court last month for an aggravated robbery charge and hadn't been seen since. Now, on top of several other charges, along with violating her probation, she's facing other charges, including tampering with evidence, primarily a corpse, and child endangerment.

Her bond is set at $35,000 total: $20,000 for tampering with evidence, primarily a corpse, and $15,000 for endangering a child.

Reardon has not been charged directly with her daughter's death, but that could change.

Authorities have not released the official cause of the baby's death.

They need to turn this bitch into a lab rat. She somehow survived seizing for 8 hours straight. She's a medical miracle! Or maybe she just shot up and passed out...

Seizures, of any type, generally last less than 2 minutes..10 minutes is really pushing it never mind 8 hours. You're generally awake and alert within 10-20 minutes after having one. Seizures lasting over half an hour leave you either dead or as a vegetable.

I might have to go get me some!

March of 2020 I had my first ever seizure and had to go through all kinds of tests because they werent sure how long I'd been seizing. They only know that I seized for around 2.5 minutes after I was found but not how long I was seizing before I was found. They still arent sure what even caused it.

Sounds like coke and meth could have saved me the medical bills xD

Offense history makes me think the judge thought, "Well, since she going for 20 on the robbery charge, might as well give a concurrent sentence of 20 for body tampering."
