Maniah Lajurnee Gilchrist, 18, allegedly swallowed a Plan B pill at Walmart without paying for it.

Columbia County deputies were called to the Martinez Walmart, where loss prevention officers said Gilchrist took the pill from a locked case at the store. Employees said Gilchrist then entered the bathroom and ingested the pill without paying for it.

The Plan B pill is also known as the morning-after pill. It is designed to stop pregnancy after a recognized or presumed birth control malfunction, unprotected sex or sexual assault.

Employees told deputies they wanted to press charges for the stolen medication as well as two honey mustard packets Gilchrist allegedly stole from the store’s deli.

In total, Gilchrist took $48.35 worth of merchandise from the store, according to a sheriff’s report.

Give this young lady a gentle slap and probation and all the help she needs. She made a imperfectly good choice. Her being a mom would undoubtedly have been a disaster of the sort DD reports. Prosecute real criminals - and keep 'em in jail or kill 'em - instead of letting the violent crooks out to fuck society harder. Justice implies proportionality to the act being examined in court.

We shouldn't even be reading about this microscopic offense. It should cost its locality about ten cents to deal with, and no one should know this little loser's name.
