[•••]Logan Trammell

The Cullman man was killed in a shooting the day before Christmas.

Jacobs said her brother, Logan's father, thought someone was stealing his truck that night and drew his gun.

"He said he shot it up in the air and they kind of sped up and said he shot one more time toward, aiming toward the tailgate of the truck and the truck stopped," Jacobs said.

"It's over 50 yards out there with a pistol and its pitch black, it's a long way and he said he just pointed and shot," Tommy Jacobs, the victim's uncle, said.

Logan's father, soon realizing he had just shot his own son, frantically began dialing 911. Family members desperately tried to keep the young man alive.

"I tried to save him and I just prayed 'God, help me save him, you've helped me so many times.' God had a better purpose," Jacobs said, through tears.

The Cullman County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death.

well, he wins some kinda award for stupid. If yo can't see and don't know exactly what are who your shooting at but assumptions you don't shoot especially if your life or others isn't i danger.

This wouldnt have been legally justified even if someone was stealing his shit.

Lock this fucktard up.

Idiot.

Wait, so when you get your license to own a gun, you don't have to pass a test covering when you can and can't shoot your gun at someone?

Just think every present under the tree with the sons name on the tag was a twisting knife.

Good!

Logan "Pop won't mind if I borrow the truck" Trammell

If these 4 rules were always followed these types of incidents would not happen.

Rule 1: All firearms are always loaded.
Rule 2: Never let the muzzle cover anything you’re not willing to destroy.
Rule 3: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
Rule 4: Be sure of your target.

Because 'bama dad decided to forgo rule 2 and 4, he now has one less son. Way to go, pop.

Here's the thing though, Jack is right. Even if this was an actual theft, no state allows you to shoot at a fleeing perpetrator, especially outside, driving away. In fact, this idiot could well be charged with murder, because, maybe he didn't intend on killing his son, but dumbass did intend on killing someone, which he did.

Why shoot anyway? Insurance will cover a stolen truck. o_O
I have no problem someone killing a shitbag that's in the act of stealing a personal item worth $40,000 even if it is insured, because we sure in the hell know that even if that thieving-scumbag was caught they would just be laughing in the face of the victim as they walk out of the courtroom after getting their wrist slapped and told not to do it again, which of course they most definitely will.

The only reason I agree one should not to shoot a career criminal is the penalty for a victim to defend themselves, or their property, is much worst than what the criminal would normally receive.

I’m not quite that cynical & shooting someone should be reserved in defense of yourself or others. Especially since the consequences are so dire, like killing your son. You’ll get over losing a truck.

Read this and then wonder why America has had a mass shooting (shooting involving three or more victims) almost every single day last year: https://www.wikihow.com/Buy-a-Gun

What do you need in order to buy a gun? Both jack and shit. Take a test?! THIS IS MURICA! We can barely read, let alone fill out a questionnaire to make sure we're not so stupid we just randomly open fire on anyone and everyone.

Where I live you don't need the test. Just go to a gun and knife show. :(
