A convicted sex offender from Glen Cove was arrested and charged Wednesday with possessing child pornography -- the same crimes that landed him jail in 2008, Nassau police said.

Ralph DeMayo, 28, was charged with three counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child in that occurred on Aug. 31, police said, citing a report filed with the Washington D.C.-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

DeMayo, of 219 Lawrence Lane, was also charged with three counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, police said.

He faces arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said. He is a registered Level 1 sex offender, which is designated in New York State for those considered a low risk for repeating the offense.


Nassau detectives arrested DeMayo after conducting a search of his residence following the organization's report. It was determined that DeMayo uploaded various child pornography images on his home computer, police said. Police did not seize the computer, police said.

DeMayo was arrested and charged with the same two crimes in 2008 and pleaded guilty to one felony count of possessing a sexual performance by a child in 2009.

He was sentenced to 90 days in prison and assessed a $2,500 fine.

Jail is not good, as you can imagine. Luckily, I got placed in protective custody in jail so I did not face any hatred. I was placed in a housing unit with people who commited other sexual offenses and people who were not looking for trouble. I'm not a pussy, I just don't want to deal with all the gang violence. Since gang violence is very real. The inmates did know what I was in for. Nobody smuggled cigarettes. The only thing people smuggled in was weed. And if they shoved it up their ass, the weed was placed in a plastic bag beforehand.
