Question... Is the fatal overdose rate competing with the civic death rate?
Are you asking if there was a spike in non-drug related deaths in Austin, simultaneously?
Or are you asking if overall, the overdose deaths, whether they be 1 or 4 a day, are really that signifigant in a city where 16-17 people die daily from disease, accidents, homicide, etc?
I think the answers are: no, it depends?

That is a SHARP increase from 2015 to 2021!!
These aren't fake numbers or put out by the Biden administration, so none of that nonsense.
The rate leveled out since 2021.
Doesn't seem like those covid closed-borders did a damn thing.

Overdoses are an indicator. The fact that you can get narcon over the counter does little more than mask the bigger problem.

AXE’s brother, who i made a thread about in cloud cover while he was recovering in hospital and had infected injection sites all over his limbs, was released to rehab, did well there, and became a sponsor for another recovering addict, again took up the habit and has been a homeless addict ever since. I don’t understand why anyone would do that shit when we all by now have seen what devastation it causes. Even I knew better back in the day, although one of our friends got on H and ended up convicted of gunpoint robbery of the Taco Bell where he previously worked and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
