A Thanksgiving dinner turned violent following an altercation that resulted in an infant being stabbed.

According to an arrest citation, Kentucky State Police were called to a home in Prestonsburg after an infant was transported to the hospital with a stab wound.

Police detained the child's mother, Katherine Stepp, 38, on an active warrant. Police say Stepp began to resist arrest and became extremely combative.

Witnesses at the dinner say Stepp and her boyfriend had arrived extremely intoxicated. Family members also stated that Stepp took the infant outside to her boyfriend where they both engaged in bizarre behavior including rubbing something (the arrest citation did not elaborate what the substance was) on the child's face. An argument ensued.

After a few moments, Stepp returned inside the home and began screaming that someone was trying to kill her infant.

It was then someone noticed blood coming from a stab wound on the infant's right calf. Stepp was charged with wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, public intoxication of a controlled substance and assault.
