Girl, 16, charged with murdering her father after his rotting corpse is discovered dumped in the desert
Nov 3 2010
A teenage girl whose father's rotting corpse was found dumped in the Arizona desert has been accused of his murder.
Clarissa Sanchez, 16, has been charged together with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Larry Coronado, after Andres Sanchez's body was discovered in Tucson, Arizona
He had been missing for 10 days. Family and friends thought the 40-year-old left of his own accord and failed to report the matter to police straight away.
They were finally called in to investigate on Sunday and visited a home in southwest Tucson twice, at 10pm on Sunday and 2am Monday morning.
During the second visit they 'received new information' that led them to launch a murder investigation, according to reports.
A man's body was discovered in a desert area at around noon on Monday.

However, police are though to have been unable to confirm the victim's identity due to the condition of the body.
Miss Sanchez and Mr Coronado are being held at the Pima County Jail.

Father murdered, daughter charged: Friends speak out
Nov 6 2010
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - After a father is murdered and his daughter is accused of his death, co-workers and friends try to raise money and support for the family. They are holding a car wash for the Sanchez family all weekend.

"He would always come in and make us laugh dancing in the office saying you don't look too happy today what's going on than he would start dancing in the office or trying to make us smile," said Kesha Sixkiller, a co-worker of Sanchez.

Smiling and dancing are two things co-workers will always remember about Andres Sanchez, better known to family and friends as Andrew. Most co-workers only knew Sanchez for a few years but say they're out here washing cars and raising money for his family because of his kindness and lively spirit.

"A guy that always provided for his family, you know he was always there for his family and this is the only way we can pay him back for what he did for us," said Eddie Aros, a co-worker of Sanchez.

Sanchez was murdered last week near his home. Police arrested his 16-year-old daughter Clarissa Sanchez and 19-year-old Larry Coronado as the two suspects. His family is trying to deal with the loss of their father and husband and figure out what happened with his daughter.

"Is there any reason why someone would want to hurt Andrew?" asked KGUN9 Reporter Ileana Diaz.

"You know I couldn't even answer that for you. I don't think anyone could, cause the way it happened you know we don't know details," said Aros.

Sanchez' wife and other three daughters didn't want to go on camera but are thankful to have so much support. His coworkers are trying to help the Sanchez family with their finances but say it's hard for everyone to make sense of what is going on.

"He would tell us about his daughters and how much he loved them and how proud he was of them and so it was just unbelievable for something like this to happen," said Aros.

Co-workers, family and friends will be at the Autozone near Benson Highway and Campbell Avenue all day Saturday and Sunday and are accepting donations for a car wash.

I never can understand the logic the dumb asses are thinking, OK, Daddy dont want you with the guy, so you and b/f come up with a genius plan, lets kill Daddy, you idiots always get caught, now you will never be together, wasnt that the goal of killing Daddy, to be together? I dont get it... Dumb bitch, you could have just snuck around and fucked him, eventually he would have done something to make you hate him, now both your lives are going to be lived in prison for the rest of your sorry little lives, AND YOU WILL NEVER BE TOGETHER AGAIN... now you have no Daddy who probobly loved you and tried to provide and show you the right way... you are a dumb bitch and your eyebrows are fucked up too, you look like a 45 yr old woman instead of 16... I could write this dumb bitch a letter...

If two Mexicans murder another Mexican and then go to prison for it......well, I cannot say that society is all the worse off because of it.

The bail for a Tucson girl facing charges in connection with her father's slaying was reduced from $250,000 to $75,000 Tuesday over the objections of the prosecutor and the man's mother.

Clarissa Andrea Sanchez, 16, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her father, Andres Sanchez, whose body was found in a desert area near South La Cholla Boulevard and West 36th Street on Nov. 1.

Detectives say the teen wanted her 38-year-old father dead and arranged for her boyfriend, Larry Raymond Coronado, 19, to kill him while her mother was at work. They contend Coronado beat Andres Sanchez to death with a baseball bat while he was sleeping and then disposed of his body.

If released, Goncalves said, his client would live with her mother.

Deputy Pima County Attorney Kellie Johnson argued against any reduction.

She told the judge that for days everyone in the Sanchez family believed Andres Sanchez had left the home of his own accord because they were receiving text messages to that effect from his cell phone.

It was only after Clarissa Sanchez's mother reported her missing that it was revealed Andres Sanchez was dead and the teenager had been writing the text messages, Johnson said. The teenager confessed to the slaying to her 18-year-old sister, Monica, the prosecutor said.

Even though she's only 16, Clarissa Sanchez is "smart, savvy and manipulative," Johnson said.

Andres Sanchez's mother, Rosa Zamora, said she won't feel safe if her granddaughter is released from jail. She pointed out her granddaughter was living under the supervision of her daughter-in-law when the slaying occurred.

Goncalves told Acuña that Clarissa Sanchez confessed while under duress. She didn't know Coronado had been arrested and feared that if she didn't say she was involved in her father's death he would hurt her and the rest of her family, Goncalves and Fidel wrote in court documents.

Monica Sanchez has visited her sister in jail and is apparently willing to assist in her sister's defense, the defense attorneys wrote.
