A young girl's body was found dumped inside what appeared to be a suitcase along a hiking trail in Hacienda Heights Tuesday morning, a law enforcement source told KTLA

Gardeners discovered the girl's body about 10:35 a.m. south of Hacienda Boulevard and Glenmark Drive, officials said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. An official at the scene said the girl was black and possibly 7 to 10 years old.

It is unclear how long the body had been there.

The circumstances behind the death are under investigation, officials said in a news release. No arrests have been made.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed a white tarp set up in a wooded area, with several police vehicles around.

The body was found near the Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple, aerial video showed.

Police in California are asking the public to help them identify a young girl whose body was found partially stuffed in a duffel bag on a trail in Southern California.

The girl is described as African-American, between the ages of 8 and 13. Detectives don't know if she was alive or deceased when she was put in the rollaway-type duffel bag in which she was found.

Police said they have no leads on her identity and said there were no obvious signs of trauma that would help them determine a cause of death.

Family members and investigators on Sunday identified a little girl whose body was discovered in a duffel bag at the bottom of an embankment in Hacienda Heights last week, and announced two "persons of interest" are being detained in connection with her death.

Trinity Love Jones, 9, was the young victim who was found dead along a hiking trail in the area of Colima Road and Hacienda Boulevard, near the Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple, her father, Anthony Jones, told KTLA.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed the girl's identity Sunday afternoon and described her as a Los Angeles County resident.

"Investigators have detained two persons of interest in this case and they are actively continuing their investigation," Deputy Tracey Koerner of the Sheriff's Information Bureau said in a written statement. No further details about the development were released.

Officials declined to discuss how the girl died.

@spiff - No matter what the story is when it finally comes out, there's going to be a lot of tears and rage.

Oh I'm not ruling the father out because he's upset, plenty of parents fake it for the media to cover things up. I'm ruling him out because it says they detained two persons of interest and the father is clearly not detained if he's speaking freely to the press.

The fact that he's mostly upset about how he heard the news and that he's talkative to media also makes me think he wasn't actually involved with her life. He says in the above article:

"She was just the best," he said. "Full of character, full of life, full of joy."

which is the most generic shit possible.

Also, he said he got the news of death by phone. If the cops even vaguely suspect you, they're coming in person for sure.

Taquesta Graham (the mom) is a registered sex offender, having been convicted in 2009 of enticing a minor female for prostitution, according to the Megan's Law website. She was last released in 2016 and reported to be living in Santa Fe Springs.

Hunt, meanwhile, has a prior child abuse conviction in San Diego County from 2005, according to the criminal complaint.

He faces a possible maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison if convicted on the murder charge.

Mom who is a piece of shit was dating a piece of shit.

Now they want answers. They want to know why the girl was allowed to be in the custody of her mother, Taquesta Graham, who is a registered sex offender, according to the California Megan's Law website.
They also want to know more about Graham's boyfriend, Emiel Hunt a previously convicted child abuser
Authorities confirmed Sunday that two persons of interest have been detained. Family members told KTLA they were Graham and Hunt.
"It's more than just the mother and the boyfriend. We have to get to the bottom of it," one family member said. "We need justice. We need to figure it out. It wasn't supposed to happen like this to no one. Everybody deserves and answer."
Trinity's father, Antonio Jones, posted an emotional video on Facebook.
"I have a 9-year-old daughter now who will never, ever, ever walk through my front door," Antonio said in the video.

Was there never an avenue for recourse? The family member refers to the woman as “the mother” and the man as “the boyfriend”. The use of impersonal articles indicates there’s a brutal animosity and contempt between the family member and Trinity’s parents. Why was nothing done before shit hit the fan?

Hindsight is always 20/20 with child abuse, it seems. No one bats an eye until it’s too late.

Mom is a CONVICTED SEXUAL OFFENDER....what court or did dad give this scumbag mother custody of this defenseless child? They said she was dead on the 1st, not discovered until the 4th....why the fuck did no one of this "family" report her missing in that time? They had to appeal to the public to get her identified! Her mother was a pervert, her 'new daddy' was a child abuser and her family didn't care.....this girl was dead already!

If a person is already a sex offender, can DCF / CPS legally take away their kid for the offense in the future? Real question.

It’s usually considered a human right to reproduce (sometimes unfortunately) so the courts might not have been able to intervene if the pimping happened before the girl’s birth. Anyone know?

The father said he was stopped by family from seeing his kid, but it’s possible he just left the girl with the mother and never tried to see her. The daughter might have gone to the mothers custody by default if no one fought it.

Documents detail the malnutrition and abuse a three-year-old boy suffered at the hand of his father, who is now facing murder charges in the death of a 9-year-old girl found in a duffel bag on a Hacienda Heights hiking trail.

Emiel Lamar Hunt, 38, who was charged with murder Tuesday in the death of 9-year-old Trinity Love Jones, was previously convicted child abuse in 2005 after his toddler son was found unresponsive, malnourished and bruised at their San Diego home.

Documents obtained by NBC 7 on Wednesday describe the events of March 30, 2004, when San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers found the unresponsive three-year-old boy and rushed him to Rady Children's Hospital trauma unit.

The child had "severe bloating and internal injuries to his chest, abdomen, back, arms and legs," the SDPD officer described in the documents. He was "intubated and had several episodes of low heart rate and required drugs to bring up the heart rate."

The three-year-old was so underweight, he was in the third percentile for children his age and had old scars and bruises all over his body, the documents said.

A doctor told police the child had malnutrition that could only have been caused by "prolonged neglect."

Hunt was subsequently arrested on one count of torture and two counts of child abuse.

Following the arrest, Hunt's partner at the time, Patecia Frazier, was interviewed about the child's care while in their custody.

When officers asked Frazier if the couple punished the child, she admitted Hunt would "spank" the boy with a belt or cord about four times a week, according to documents.

She also described to police how they would withhold food, from the toddler as a form of punishment, the documents said. When he did eat, the meals consisted of green beans and mixed vegetables. Meat was only given as a "reward."

A year following his arrest, Hunt pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Frazier was ordered by the California Superior Court of San Diego County to attend a year-long child abuser's treatment program because of the abuses she witnessed.

Investigators announced Thursday they are preparing a criminal case against the mother of Trinity Love Jones, the girl whose body was found on a Hacienda Heights hiking trail.

Jones' mother, Taquesta Graham, was extradited from Texas to Los Angeles on Thursday and is being held on an unrelated warrant. She was subsequently interviewed regarding her daughter's murder, according to a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

During the past week, Investigators learned Graham, Hunt and Trinity moved from a family member's home in Long Beach in May of 2018. During the past 10 months, the extended family had only seen or heard from the couple and Trinity just a few times, according to the press release. Investigators learned Hunt, Graham and Trinity were homeless just prior to her death and were residing in a Santa Fe Springs motel or in their vehicle.

Investigators previously believed the victim had been left at the location within 48 hours prior to the time of her body's discovery. Since then, additional information revealed that Trinity's body was actually left at the crime scene during the afternoon hours of March 1, the release stated.

Mother Charged With Murder in Slaying of 9-Year-Old Girl Found in Duffel Bag in Hacienda Heights

The mother of a 9-year-old girl whose body was found stuffed in a duffel bag along an equestrian trail in Hacienda Heights earlier this month was charged with murder on Wednesday, prosecutors announced.
Taquesta Graham, 28, made her first court appearance in Pomona on Wednesday, but the arraignment was postponed until April 16.

Graham and her boyfriend, 38-year-old Emiel Hunt, are accused of killing Trinity Love Jones earlier this month, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

She has been in custody since March 8, but was just booked Monday on suspicion of murder, a sheriff's news release stated.

The two suspects were both initially detained at a border crossing in Texas on March 8, and Graham was arrested on suspicion of an unrelated warrant. Hunt was released and drove to back to California, where he was arrested the following day in a parking lot near San Diego International Airport, according to the release.

Hunt has also been charged with murder in Trinity's killing.

Trinity Love Jones was scarred from head to toe. There were so many injuries on the slain 9-year-old’s body that a medical examiner performing an autopsy had to draw several diagrams to document them all.

Evidence showed that the girl had been abused for months — beaten, denied food and bearing an infection on her feet that made it hard for her to wear shoes.
At a preliminary hearing this week in a Pomona courtroom, prosecutors outlined the serious injuries the girl suffered before her 2019 death and provided new details, including text messages and videos that led investigators to suspect the girl’s mother and her boyfriend of killing her.

In court, investigators read aloud text messages in which Hunt and Graham wrote of punishing the girl and complained that she kept urinating on herself. “Trinity is going to get it,” Graham texted Hunt after one such incident.
In another exchange from January 2019, Graham asks Hunt to show Trinity the text she has sent: “We were talking about giving you a burrito ... you messed up.”

Taquesta Graham, 29, and Emiel Hunt, 39, have each been charged with murder and torture. They have pleaded not guilty.

A woman and her boyfriend were sentenced to prison Friday on the eve of trial for the death of her 9-year-old daughter, whose body was found partially inside a duffel bag near a Hacienda Heights-area equestrian trail.
Taquesta Graham and Emiel Hunt were sentenced to 15 years to life and 25 years to life, respectively, a court official said.
The couple faced murder and torture charges involving the death of Graham’s daughter, Trinity Love Jones, whose body was found on March 5, 2019, at the bottom of an embankment near the His Lai Buddhist Temple.

County workers clearing some brush came upon the child’s body, which was partially inside a black rollaway-type duffel, with her head and upper body protruding from the partially zipped bag.
