A pregnant woman who tried to steal from a grocery store went into labor after she was approached by security guards, police say.

It happened Friday, August 2 at the Woodman's in Oak Creek.

According to Oak Creek Police, the woman tried leaving the store with $255 in groceries without paying for them. Police say store security confronted the woman and she was taken into custody but had to be escorted to the women's bathroom because she began to go into labor.

By the time officers arrived at Woodman's she was already in delivery.

Some Woodman's customers say they didn't want to pass judgment because they couldn't help but feel bad for her being in that situation, but others say that shouldn't matter because what she did was wrong.

"I don't know if I would ever do that, but I don't know, maybe it's her circumstances, maybe she's going through a rough time? You can never judge nobody because you don't know what position they're in," said Mini Avila of Oak Creek.

I remember shopping at a Woodman's.
I really like the employee owned grocery stores, only thing I dislike is bagging my shit when they go so damn fast at scanning stuff.

But man, $200+ in food is a lot to try to walk out with. For me that would be an entire cart, filled to the overflowing, especially with the prices there.

I might feel bad for her if she took some bread and sandwich meat and a soda, but an entire overflowing cart full of groceries, not so much. she's no different from the ones who load up a 60 inch TV and try to brazenly walk out the door thinking if they act like they paid no one will question it. This was just beyond the pale. She was just too greedy.

She knew the baby was near and daily food runs were going to be difficult.
Who knows, maybe she has a brood at home.

But really, where is baby daddy, isn't it his duty to bring home the food at this time.

How’d we know it wasn’t baby stuff? That’s easy to tot up the $

No food bank in town?
Idk about Oak Creek--they are a relatively nice suburb of Milwaukee so the food pantry situation might not be ideal. There are many food pantries in the city of Milwaukee, but you usually have to live within their specific operating area, they're only open a few times a month, you get a limited amount of food (some of it very weird shit lol), and they're often in dangerous neighborhoods. Not to mention you often have to get there early in the morning and wait in line... You work that day? You have young children that can't wait out in the dead of winter for a half hour and then wait for an hour (or 3) inside while they check you in? Oh well, no food for you. Just saying, it's not all "stop by and get free food!" like people seem to think.

A hungry, but basically honest person might steal food, but they usually get a few items, enough to see them thru a day or two, but this woman is obviously used to stealing what she wants. Someone just noticed her this day. To do this you have to have an attitude of confidence and sail right thru the door as if you'd paid for it.

Half the time, the door "monitors" at Walmart don't even check my receipt if I have loose items in my cart. One even told me "I don't get down there" when she saw some things underneath. Bending down was simply too much. I swear it was only a few years ago they insisted on checking everything every time.

They are still supposed to do it, though, because the nice gentleman last Saturday did do it and even showed me the updated scanning process which makes it so much easier for everyone. No looking through the receipt now.
