A woman who police say intentionally fed her boyfriend Drano so he would fall into "eternal sleep" has been arrested for investigation of attempted murder.
Elle Yoshio Weissman, 43, was also arrested for investigation of "surreptitious administering of a certain substance," according to Salt Lake County Jail records.
According to a jail booking report, "she had given her live-in boyfriend a spoonful of Drano. Elle stated that her intention was to give her boyfriend Drano so that he would go into eternal sleep. Elle stated that by eternal sleep she meant death. She knew that Drano could kill him and that was her intention. The victim was partially asleep when Elle gave him the Drano. Elle said her boyfriend thought she was giving him his medicine."
After consuming the drain cleaner, the 50-year-old man soon started suffering excruciating pain, said South Salt Lake police officer Gary Keller. Weissman eventually called a ride-hailing service to take the man to an urgent care facility. That's when South Salt Lake police officers were called.
Keller said the boyfriend remained hospitalized Thursday.
