Sue sue

Take 6
According to the lawsuit, Charlie moved into his parents’ home and stayed for 10 months, doing housework in lieu of paying rent, according to WXMI. He asked to leave the home in August 2017 after a domestic situation, according to court documents.

His parents allegedly visited him in November 2017 to drop off possessions, but Charlie’s pornography collection was gone, WXMI reported.

Charlie’s parents said they threw out the collection, estimated at $28,940.72, according to court documents.

When I was in college, I bought the issue of Playboy with Jenny McCarthy and Jerry Seinfeld on the cover. It came home with me to my parents' house in the summer, and my mother found it an threw it out even though I insisted I'd bought it solely for the Seinfeld interview.

Well, apparently that issue sells for quite a bit now. Lesson learned: hide your porn better.

Especially, from mothers!

What a tool, suing your own parents. After they let you live rent free in their house after your divorce.

Some girls are into porn, some are not. If I was married to one who wasn't, porn would be banished from my house. It's a respect thing.

Having said that, his parent's had no more right to destroy his $30,000 porn collection than my parents have the right to destroy my $30,000 car.

I'd say he has a good chance at winning this case, but at what cost?

And anyone who owns that much porn has a fucking problem.

Why spend that much money on porn when any type of porn you could possible want is free on the internet?

Collectors, that's who..... I think collecting porn is weird as fuck.

But I collect old video games and pinball machines. I could play all of those games online for free, but I like to collect them because I think they have historical and sentimental value. And I just like them.... Some people might think it's weird that my living room is filled with arcade games from the 70's, but fuck them. I think it's cool.

The dude collects original porn titles.... I wouldn't, but each to their own.

I think collecting old video games is pretty cool.

I'm a collector of hardcover books. Not because of any monetary value, but because I like the way they look on my shelf so the only significance of the collection is that they're authors and series' that I personally like. They don't even need to be first editions, just good copies (and from the same set if they're a series).

I suppose I collect fabric. To be fair, I sew a lot. However I still probably have more fabric than I could use up in my lifetime, even with my high rate of consumption. It is so full of potential. It could be X, or it could become Y, or I could use it for Z. The possibilities are endless.

Many of my friends are in the same boat. A boat which will no doubt sink under the weight of all this fabric. Whoever dies with the most fabric wins!

I thought I was a loser for having a collection of Magic The Gathering cards, hat pins, and guns. But in this day and age who the fuck owns that much physical poem? His parents probably kicked him out because there were cumstains all over the house.

Unless you don't have any internet access that much porn is unwarranted.

I collect leather books, ex. Easton Press. Looks fabulous on my bookshelf and I intend to read them...some day. :)

I used to make quilts so I have a stock pile of "fat quarters". Used to sew all my clothes years ago, too. Rheumatoid arthritis put the kabosh on that hobby.

Yarn. I have yarn in bags, in boxes, in totes and an entire 5 ft tall cabinet full of, you guessed it, yarn. It's gotten so that if I need a particular color, weight, etc, I will buy it since it's easier than searching thru my collection to find it. That is my first clue I need to off load some of it, but which ones......I just don't know.

I recently started an accumulation of fountain pens and inks. Practically speaking, I have a lifetime supply; still, there's just that one more . . . .

There's also the cast-iron cookware I got going. That is a collection, at least in part, because I am focusing on BS&R Red Mountain pans with the hand-drawn size designators; since it has a focus it is, in my book at least, a collection.

Cause when you are feeling frisky and you know exactly what is going to set you off in just the right way... You already know which shelf that 30 seconds is on. And considering he just got a divorce... maybe he hoarded it out of spite to the ex for divorcing him for being so into that much porn.

Guns and Magic cards, I've got. Hat pins, not a one. Then again all my hats are low-rent.

Got into fountain pens maybe 8 years ago. Managed to avoid the collecting rabbit-hole, but given that performance is a three-way balance between the wetness of the pen, the fluidity of the ink and the absorbancy of the paper, some degree of experimentation (and accumulation) is unavoidable.

Just loaded up a pen for a day of meetings tomorrow, actually. An eminently-affordable Lamy Safari in medium running Noodler's Black, which is the best ink on the planet IMO.

I like Heart of Darkness. Same difference, really, but I like the way HoD works on cheap notebook paper.

I wanted to like 54th Massachusetts, because of its color and the story behind its name and its characteristics, but it wouldn't stay in the pen if I wasn't writing and it wrote at least a size larger than the nib size would indicate. I replaced it with Air Corp Blue-Black.

Baystate Blue is brilliant, in multiple senses of the word, but it ate the feed on a Pilot Kaküno so I limited it to a Noodler's Ahab modified with a firm nib. (Really. It did. The pen quit writing, and when I pulled the nib and feed out they were stuck together. The feed was tacky once I got them apart.)

Magazines and repair manuals, specifically for Volkswagen. I put a stop to buying back in 2005, but still have the collection (all of it in boxes in the shed right now).

It's somewhere over 1300 different magazines and 300 manuals.

But, back to this story. He was warned about it. From another story:
https://fox17online.com/2019/04/12/man-sues-parents-over-trashed-porn-collection/

His father, according to the lawsuit, responded, "Believe it or not, one reason for why I destroyed your porn was for your own mental and emotional heath. I would have done the same if I had found a kilo of crack cocaine. Someday, I hope you will understand.”

Charlie's father said in one email that his son was allegedly kicked out of high school and college for selling porn to other students. Saying in the documents, "I also warned you at that time if I ever found pornography in my house again, I would destroy it."

He didn't think they would do it. But dad kept his word.

While some have a yarn stash, I have a crochet thread stash and boxes of vintage crochet books. I swore to stop collecting thread and books, and just use the stash, which is carefully stored in great condition. I work slowly because my hands hurt. There will be boxes of thread when I die. Someone will dump my stash at a thrift store. And someone like me will chance upon it "wow, all this DMC Cordonnet thread for 25 cents a ball. Cool! Here is some linen priced the same, these idiots don't know pure gold when they see it!" and that person will buy the lot and the stash cycle will continue.
