Death, horror, torture
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office has issued a murder warrant and is conducting a multi-state search in connection with the death of a 10-month-old baby.

Wayne “Wolfeâ€￾ Walker of Laurelville is wanted after his girlfriend’s 10-month-old son, Kyle Calton, died Thursday. Authorities said that the baby’s injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Sheriff's detectives are still waiting on the results of an autopsy, but said doctors provided enough medical evidence to issue a murder charge against the 44-year-old Walker.

Authorities believe Walker fled the area after making a 911 call for help.

According to the 911 call, Walker said that the baby stopped breathing and his lips turned purple around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The baby was taken to a local hospital and then taken by helicopter to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

On Thursday, investigators said that they wanted to talk with Walker to learn what happened in the hours leading up to the 911 call.

Detectives believe that Walker has now fled the area, and they said that he may have headed south through Kentucky. He may be headed to Texas where he previously lived and where he may have friends and family.

Kyle Calton’s family told 10V News that the baby’s mother met Walker a few months ago when he moved to Pickaway County and their relationship grew serious. The family said that Walker babysat the child while the mother worked.

While authorities try to bring Walker to justice, the baby’s mother must prepare to bury her 10-month-old son.

Investigators say they don't believe Walker would be heading towards California, where he recently lived, because of the outstanding warrants for his arrest.

What a f*(#ing pussy! 44-years-old and not able to restrain himself from shaking a baby, and then won't stand and take the consequences. And, look, outstanding warrants, too! Makes a habit of running from his sh&$-for-brains actions.

A man accused of killing an infant on Wednesday in Pickaway County has been captured on the west coast by U.S. Marshals.

Wayne “Wolfâ€￾ Walker, 44, is now in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service, according to Pickaway County Sheriff’s Dwight Radcliff.

Walker was captured without incident by the Marshals in Sacramento, California after being tracked through the purchase of a bus ticket.

After placing the 9-1-1 call, Walker then made his way from Ohio down to Kentucky, while Investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) gathered information that Walker was travelling on a Greyhound Bus going back to California.

Information showed Walker was scheduled to arrive in Sacramento on the morning of December 2.

Investigators from SOFAST then contacted the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF) Sacramento Division to assist in arresting Walker.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, members of PSWRFTF arrived at the local Greyhound Bus Station located at 420 Richards Boulevard in Sacramento.

The PSWRFTF gathered information that a bus that Walker was believed to be on, would be arriving from Reno, Nevada within the next hour.

“Along with the Sacramento Police Department, K-9 Unit members of the PSWRFTF set up around the Bus Station and waited to for the bus to arrive,â€￾ said Deputy Marshal Charles Brown. “At approximately 12:00 p.m. the bus arrived at the station and Walker was seen exiting the bus. As he entered into the Bus Station lobby, Walker was taken into custody without incident.â€￾

Walker was taken to the Sacramento County Jail where he will await extradition back to Ohio.

“California has a warrant out for him on a parole violation, so I don’t know yet what they’ll do,â€￾ Radcliff said. “We were hoping to get him outside of California, but at least we’ve got him off the street and in custody. We’ll have to wait and see how soon we can get him back.â€￾

Walker was wanted for questioning by investigators, but shortly after being contacted, he fled the state.

Walker is the reported boyfriend of the child’s mother, Elizabeth Rutter, 24, of Laurelville.

So this 44 year old man still cannot control his temper, has a warrant in CA, because apparently he bailed out on something to do with his parole. Mom had only known him a few months, and now she has to bury her baby. Such a waste of life.

A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to nearly two decades in prison in the shaking death of his girlfriend's 10-month-old baby in central Ohio.

Prosecutors say Wayne Martin Walker caused the death of the infant in November at her home in Laurelville, south of Columbus.

As part of a plea bargain, he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and child endangering Wednesday in Circleville and was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

He was sentenced to the maximum of 11 years on the voluntary manslaughter count and the maximum eight years on the child endangering count, which Knece ordered to be served consecutively for the 19-year total sentence.

He also will be subject to five years of post-release control when he is finally released from prison, Knece said.

Walker declined to speak on his own behalf at the sentencing hearing Wednesday, which was attended by more than a dozen family members of the 10-month-old victim, Kyle Calton.

The child’s mother, Elizabeth Rutter, said Walker, her boyfriend at the time of Kyle’s death, has destroyed the peace and security of her older children who knew and trusted him, and she was forced to move them from the home they loved and school they knew to avoid painful memories of that November night.

Upon sentencing, Knece said he was reminded of a plaque hanging in his office that reads, “We owe no greater duty than to protect our children and raise them wisely.â€￾

“People like you doing things like this to a small, defenseless child,â€￾ Knece said. “I never have understood how someone could do that, and I never will.â€￾

The pictures of this guy are just one worse than the last. How the hell did he get any woman to give him the time of day, much less allow him to move in with her? Rutter must have really been hard up.

I finally thought about this relationship in terms of time frame. The baby was 10 months old. Rutter met Walker "a few months before" when he first came to town. She has older children. Which leads me to thinking that she was hard up . . . for a baby sitter. Walker does not strike me as a likely candidate given his look. Biker dudes just don't give off that warm, cuddly vibe you want in a childcare worker.
