Two Greenwood County men are facing charges after a 14-year-old girl gave birth to a baby earlier this year.
Grady Lendarin Funches, 25, and Travis James Funches, 29, have been charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor in connection with the incident.
According to reports from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officials were notified on Oct. 25, 2013, by the victim’s father that the 14-year-old victim was pregnant and the father believed the man who was responsible was over the age of 21. The victim’s father said other people were telling him that the victim had been having sex with multiple men over the age of 18. The victim would not cooperate with investigators at the time and the victim’s father was told a report would be on file when she decided she would cooperate.
According to the reports, investigators were contacted in June after the victim gave birth to the child. The victim told investigators that she had sex with both Grady Funches and Travis Funches multiple times in October and November of 2013 and she was unsure of which man was the father of the child. Both suspects were ordered to appear in family court this past July, but neither of them showed up
