Gun nutters I would bet who claim that the shooting didn't happen because they personally have not seen photos of the bodies.

Every 2nd Amendment gun nutter should be locked in a room and forced to watch that video over and over. How terrible for those kids.

This has nothing to do with guns ... if there were no guns he would have used a knife or made a bomb ... you can all blame guns if you want to ... but the reason this is happenening is because the kids aren't alright.

Yeah, we have got to allow people to use their second amendment rights to kill more kids. Hey! it is our right. We do it because we can. God, after being silent for 2,000 years suddenly spoke up and gave America the right to have as many guns as they want. God given right. What a joke.

Leave god out of this ... we've kicked him out of everything ... church is pretty much a bad word now ... so please don't bring religion into this debate.

A new report found Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz asked school officials for help months before he allegedly gunned down 14 fellow classmates and three adults—but the school district “did not follow through."

That failure by school officials was singled out in a court-ordered report released Friday into the school district’s handling of Cruz’s behavioral issues. While more than half of the report was redacted, the blacked-out sections of the document could still easily be read by copying and pasting into a separate document, a trick used by The Sun-Sentinel to release the unredacted report on Friday.

Among the conclusions in the report, authored by the Collaborative Educational Network of Tallahassee, are two glaring instances in which Broward school officials failed to act in accordance with laws governing the treatment of students with disabilities.

In Cruz’s junior year, after he had already begun exhibiting behavior so disturbing it led to guidance counselors wanting to have him committed, the teenager sat down with education specialists to discuss his options for further schooling. He was told he could transfer to Cross Creek, a school tailored for students with special needs; sue the Broward school district; or stay at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School without any special counseling. According to a review of that meeting featured in the new report, school officials left out one crucial fact: Cruz was still entitled to special assistance at Stoneman Douglas if he chose to stay.

Being unaware of this option, however, Cruz—whose developmental delays were flagged at age 3—was reportedly stripped of counseling services and left to fend for himself as a “regular student.”

Months later, when Cruz changed his mind and sought to transfer to Cross Creek, the school district “did not follow through,” according to the report. He dropped out on Feb. 8, 2017, due to failing grades, and three days later purchased an AR-15, the same one used a year later in what has now become one of the deadliest school shootings in the U.S.

If a student has an I.E.P (as I am assuming Cruz did if he was flagged with learning disabilities at age 3), then the school does not get to "choose" to stop offering them support services. This error, or lapse, or whatever is was by the school district certainly contributed to the eventual outcome. They are going to get sued into oblivion.

You know, we've talked before about how schools DO NOT want to handle student disciplinary problems for one reason or another, so it's a wonder this hasn't happened more often. Doesn't matter what your child's problem is, schools really don't want any part of it and they're making that pretty clear nowadays.

Just curious, so lets just pretend that the 2nd amendment is repealed, Guns are banned, and all Legal owning citizens have to forfeit their weapons. At this given time we know there are millions of illegal / undocumented firearms on the streets of U.S that will not just willingly be handed over to the police. All legal law abiding citizens are now unarmed, leaving the firepower in the hands of criminals.

So my Question is, just like when we banned Heroin, Cocaine, Methamphetamine and still have overdoses, what happens when another mass school shooting happens, 17+ Kids are killed, and Guns are already illegal to own; what will be your argument or stance? I'm genuinely interested in knowing exactly what it is you will be so set on having banned or taken away when what you thought was a solution is no longer an option? Is it possible that any of the things you might be advocating, couldn't be something to pursue prior to legal citizens losing their weapons just to realize you have the same risk? The U.K Banned firearms in 1997, their gun crimes have risen 11% Just this year, how is that possible when there are laws that prevent ownership?

If one is going to examine the Constitution, it can only be done with the constant concept and awareness of the term "Free Will" in mind. That the person that chooses a course of action is ultimately the one responsible for that action. That this country is founded on the principal of personal responsibility. This one doesn't get that. Good luck!

I get what you mean, and I'm not trying to change anyones view or opinions. I suspect that individual uses their right brain far more than their left giving them a disadvantage at analytical & critical thinking. Therefore I simply asked a question that would force them in having too think the entire "take all guns away" shtick thats simply mindless regurgitation of media agenda programming, and give them the oppritunity to stop and ponder it. Will they do so? Probably not, but if they do in fact trace the scenario out, I truly am interested in hearing their thoughts on what exactly what they would protest in the unrealistic scenario that the US disarmed it's citizens.

Has anyone high up in this school district/school been fired yet?

I like that one of his options presented to him was to sue the school district. What the fuck is that about?

Sounds lke somebody should at this point, if not the killer himself.

Bwaahahahhahaha:D

Guns are banned, and all Legal owning citizens have to forfeit their weapons.

Do we all remember how well "Prohibition" worked? And how many people that died from the home made booze that folks made up in their bathtubs with wood alcohol. The parallels are obvious. No one is going to stop doing something just because the federal governemnt said so. Especially not the people who are getting rich supplying whatever it is that regular folks can't get. The moment anything is banned a black market pops up that supplies whatever is wanted at the highest price. People will have guns, but it will be the people who really, really shouldn't have them.

https://nypost.com/2018/08/08/nikol...es-about-demons-in-chilling-confession-video/

The Nikolas Cruz confession tapes were released on Wednesday, and they’re far more disturbing than people imagined.

“It’s painful [to watch],” said Ryan Petty, whose daughter was killed in the Valentine’s Day massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

“I mean, it’s clear to me we’ve got a sick individual that I think at the time was coming to grips with what he had just done,” Petty told WPLG. “I don’t like to think about that day, to be honest. But if we’re going to figure out how to stop this, we’ve got to try to understand it.”

Cops released a redacted transcript of the Cruz interview earlier this week, but held off on showing the video.

“I hear demons,” the 19-year-old told police. “A voice, [a] demon voice.”

The public defender representing Cruz had asked that the entire interview remain private, claiming it could possibly sway jury members. The judge in the case, however, refused — and allowed prosecutors to release a portion of his interrogation on Wednesday.

Snippets from the 13-hour interview were reportedly sliced together into a single video and released by the State Attorney’s Office.

Cruz can be heard telling cops about the “voice” inside his head, which had ordered him to kill his former classmates. He later claimed that the voice gave him instructions to buy three shotguns and three AR-style rifles for his assault, which left 17 people dead and 17 others injured.

“The voice is, is in me,” Cruz explained, pointing to his head. “To me, it’s me and then my bad side … It’s a voice. The voice is in here and then it’s me, it’s just regular me, just trying to be a good person.”

Referring to himself as a “coward,” the confessed killer bashed himself repeatedly for being “stupid” and “worthless.”

“I want to die,” Cruz said, while sitting alone in the interrogation room. “At the end, you are nothing but worthless s—t, dude … You deserve to die because you are f—ing worthless.”

At one point, Cruz can be seen talking to his younger brother, Zachary, as an investigator sits by and listens in.

“People think you’re a monster now,” Zachary told him.

“A monster?” Cruz asked.

“You don’t have anything and you’re not acting like yourself,” said Zachary, 18. “Like, why? … This is not who you are … Why did you do this?”

The question prompted a slight chuckle from Cruz, who was sitting shackled in a hospital gown.

“Don’t even laugh at me,” Zachary said. To which Cruz replied, “I’m sorry, dude.”

“I told you when we were walking down the hallway that it’s just me and you and I had your back,” Zachary added. “You probably felt like you had nobody but I, I care about you. I literally would pull my heart out for you.”

Most people who watched the confession tapes on Wednesday were disturbed by what they saw, but some were skeptical.

“I’m not buying it,” said Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was also killed in the Parkland shooting.

“It was pre-meditated,” he told Fox News. “There’s plenty of videos of what he posted before — that he was gonna plan it, everyone was going to know his name and that he was going to be famous … I think he’s just trying to avoid getting the needle.”

Pollack believes Cruz is “just a sick sociopathic criminal” — and in no way mentally ill.

“I don’t buy it that he’s schizophrenic,” Pollack said, echoing claims from Cruz’s defense team.

“I think it’s just a play.”

Cruz will be facing the death penalty when he goes on trial for the Parkland massacre.

Despite his repeated comments about wanting to die, his legal team has offered to have him plead guilty — so long as prosecutors agree to take the punishment off the table in exchange for life in prison. The State Attorney’s Office, however, has declined the offer.

The kids aren’t alright. And the parents are even worse.

That's not a joke!! Most of these kids obtain the weapons from their parents, just think if adults acted in a responsible fashion and kept their firearms locked up and out of the reach of teenagers, I can only imagine how many deaths could have been prevented. I don't advocate more restrictions on guns as statistically that has proven to be a waste and in some cases resulting in more gun violence.

What I would like to see however is some sort of Safe Storage / handling regulation that holds idiots accountable when their gun finds it's way on to a high school campus and gets used to murder children. We need some sort of incentive not to simply just leave pistols unlocked and laying around, or just hanging out in children's closets because you disregard the law of ownership at 18 or 21 years of age with the thought your "Child" is responsible enough to have one in their possession. I know that will certainly not stop it completely but I do believe it would make a dent, with parents having an understanding they could be charged with involuntary manslaughter or accessory to murder.

There are no federal laws about minors owning guns, just purchasing them. I could give all my kids an AR15 if I wanted to and there is no law against it. I, however, am smart enough not to do that. My 21 year old would like to take one to college with him, but I told him if he does, he's buying it from a dealer and I have nothing to do with the transaction.

Nikolas Cruz had two mothers: his birth mom, who gave him life and his adoptive mom, who gave him all the advantages of an upscale, suburban upbringing.

His birth mother, Brenda Woodard, was sometimes homeless, and panhandled for money on a highway exit ramp. A career criminal, Woodard’s 28 arrests include a 2010 charge for beating a companion with a tire iron; she also threatened to burn the friend’s house down. Lynda Cruz had a clean record.

Woodard was so gripped by addiction she was arrested buying crack cocaine while pregnant with Nikolas.

Conventional wisdom suggests that Nikolas Cruz should have taken after the woman who raised him from birth, rather than the one who shared only his DNA. But little of Cruz’s story is conventional. While, by most accounts, Lynda Cruz was thoughtful and disciplined, her adoptive son was violent and impulsive — characteristics he seems to share with the birth mother he never knew.

Now the history of his birth family — sealed by statute and never before reported — could become a factor in his desperate attempt to stay off Florida’s Death Row.
Many of the details of Cruz’s difficult childhood and stormy adolescence emerged in the months following his deadly Feb. 14 attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland that left 17 students and staff members dead: He was a poor student prone to sometimes violent outbursts. He had an unhealthy obsession with guns. He shot and tortured animals. But where Cruz came from, genetically, has remained a missing piece of the puzzle.

Though Nikolas was raised in comfort — Lynda Cruz apparently believed that indulging her son with video games and weapons would soften his moods — the shadow of his genetic heritage seemed to loom over his life.

Experts in criminal law say the Broward Public Defender’s Office will likely explore Cruz’s genetic makeup and childhood development in their effort to keep the 19-year-old from being executed. His birth mother could be called to testify during the sentencing phase of his trial on 17 charges of first-degree murder and 17 charges of attempted murder.

The details of Cruz’s birth mother’s life are found largely in the public record: Her lengthy criminal history speaks of a devastating battle with addiction and a propensity for violence.

So, too, does the life of her daughter, Danielle Woodard — Nikolas’ older half sister — who currently is serving an eight-year prison sentence on charges including the second-degree attempted murder of a police officer. As a young woman, Danielle Woodard was twice charged with bringing weapons to school — one of them a firearm. Danielle has been arrested 17 times — not always leading to conviction.

Walking her dog, chatting with friends and puffing away on a cigarette, this silver-haired mother-of-three looks like any other carefree Florida retiree. But these are the first pictures of Brenda Woodard - the crack-smoking, ex-con who is the biological mother of Parkland shooting monster Nikolas Cruz.

Career criminal Woodard gave Cruz and his brother Zachary up for adoption when they were newborn babies and has not spoken to them in the two decades since. Woodard - who was busted for crack possession while pregnant with Cruz - could be called to testify at his sentencing in the event he's found guilty of first-degree murder.

In June 1998 Woodard was six months pregnant with Nikolas when cops in Fort Lauderdale busted her for possession of crack cocaine. Woodard spent six days in jail but was released on three years' probation subject to urine testing and Nikolas, her second child, was born September 24, 1998.

Her decision to give the baby boy up for adoption meant that Cruz escaped his law-breaker mom's malign influence. The same was true for his brother Zachary, who was born around one year later and was taken in by the same couple, insurance executive Roger Cruz and his wife Lynda.

However the boys' half-sister Danielle, who is 11 years older than Cruz, wasn't spared the chaos, drugs and dysfunction of her mother's lifestyle. She lived with Woodard as a young child until being taken into the care of her grandmother when her mom spent a spell in jail. When the grandmother died, however, Danielle was taken into foster care at age 12.

In a chilling echo of her younger brother's killing spree, Danielle was also arrested in June 2003 for taking a firearm into her school.

By then she had embarked on a life of crime that would become every bit as deplorable as her mother's, racking up arrests for battery with a deadly weapon, car theft, elder abuse and cocaine possession.

Danielle is currently a 32-year-old inmate at Lowell Annex prison in Ocala, Florida where she is serving eight years for credit card fraud, cocaine possession and the attempted second degree murder of a police officer.

She, Zachary and Nikolas Cruz are believed to have three different fathers and there's no evidence that the two brothers have ever communicated with their sister or their mother.

Cruz and his half-brother, Zachary Cruz, will share the proceeds of an $864,929 MetLife life insurance policy, his lawyers wrote in a court pleading Wednesday.

Because the Broward Public Defender’s Office, which had represented Cruz since the massacre on Valentine’s Day in 2018, can represent only impoverished defendants, the office has asked Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer to remove its lawyers from the case, records show.

“The defendant and ... counsel were previously unaware of this entitlement,” Cruz’s attorneys wrote in their pleading. “The Law Office of the Public Defender is statutorily prohibited from representing a non-indigent client.”

Cruz was easily the public defender’s most controversial and notorious client, and he likely would have consumed the office in his defense for years to come. He confessed to the rampage only hours after he was caught near the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School campus. He had amassed a well-documented history of violent and pugnacious acts. He failed to express any real remorse for the killings.

Public Defender Howard Finkelstein had offered to allow Cruz to plead guilty to the killings in exchange for an agreement from prosecutors to forgo the death penalty. Broward State Attorney Michael Satz rejected the offer, saying Cruz was the poster child for capital punishment — a monster come to life.

The 20-year-old Cruz has been indicted on 17 counts of first-degree murder and 17 counts of attempted murder. A Broward judge is eyeing a 2020 trial date. A not-guilty plea was entered on Cruz’s behalf.

So, the fact there's going to be a long protracted trial is the fault of the prosecutor's office. It's likely, if he had been allowed to, he would have plead guilty and it would have all been done and dusted but they wouldn't let him because they want to execute him. Maybe he deserves that, but if they are so concerned with cost, why not let him and sentence him to life without parole.
