A probable cause hearing was held for Genevieve Meyers, the L'Anse woman accused of murdering a toddler in December of 2017.

In December of 2017, Genevieve Meyers was made the legal guardian of her two year old nephew Walker Meyers.

On December 23, 2017, she brought the child to Baraga County Medical Hospital with several bruises. The child was airlifted to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where he died later that night. The autopsy from that night stated that the bruises the child sustained were the result of abuse and the death was ruled a homicide.

"The child was physically abused and he died because of it," said Dr. Hillary Petska, a child abuse specialist at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
"You can say that with a reasonable degree of medical certainty?" asked Baraga County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph O’Leary.
“I can," Petska answered.

The defense argued that the child had a history of self-harm corroborated by a Dr. Beatty; to which Dr. Petska pointed out that the there was no way the injuries could have been the result of self-harm.
"He had bruising over almost every surface of his body,” said Dr. Petska. “He had patterned bruising in several locations as well."

Her ex-labia licker had this to say:
Jill Roberts, the ex-girlfriend of Meyers says that the alleged self-harm the child practiced were nothing out of the ordinary for toddlers she has seen before, simply tantrums.

"Did you ever see walker do anything that would cause the types of bruising and injuries you saw on him that night?” asked O’Leary.

"No, I did not," Roberts answered.

Exceptions are usually made to place a child with a family member.

Honestly, the child is often the least important individual to child protective services.

The mother regardless of what she has done to the child is (often) able to recommend a family member that she would like the child to go to.

Genevieve Lynn Meyers was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years and six months in prison for her role in the death of her 2-year-old nephew.

Meyers, 37, pleaded no contest to a charge of second-degree murder.

The boy was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where he later died. Doctors at that hospital later said the boy, Walker Meyers, had severe brain injuries, extensive bruising and a fractured nose.

Genevieve Meyers was arrested after the autopsy revealed the boy’s injuries. Meyers entered her no-contest plea in August. Such a plea is not an admission of guilt, but is treated as such for sentencing purposes.
