"Wakulla County Sheriff's office detectives raided the residence Friday and arrested Mirko Ceska, 58, and Regina Ceska, 55.

The investigation began on July 1 when the victims escaped from the farm and alerted investigators.

"The females described Mr. and Mrs. Ceska as doomsday preppers who had getaway properties located throughout the United States and food rations and weapons stored in the event of a major calamity," a Wakulla County Sheriff's Office update on Facebook says. "The females stated they had been trained to raise pigs, raise sheep, grow various fruits and vegetables, sheer sheep, utilize a loom, and sew."

The victims, who where under the "custodial responsibility" of the Ceskas, recounted to deputies how they began working each day at 5:30 a.m. Their ages were not clear and were not specified in the Facebook post.

In a 2009 Associated Press article about the over-medication of children in the foster care system, the Ceskas said they had adopted 12-year-old twin girls a year earlier.

"The females reported they were not allowed to go anywhere, couldn't have friends, couldn't have cell phones, nor talk to people in public places," the sheriff's office said. "They stated they were not allowed to agree, talk or shake hands with anyone in public; rather, they were instructed to always look happy."

If they didn't smile, they would face a variety of punishments ranging from verbal abuse, beatings or being deprived of food.
A recent beating involved a metal rod, police said. "Detectives noted marks and bruises on the female’s back and arm."
Both females also described times that Mirko Ceska would force sex acts upon them, "some with the support of Regina Ceska," according to deputies."

Lmao
I had a boyfriend that bought cases and cases of MREs for Y2K
Nothing happened. He moved and left all those cases behind and I let my kids put up a tent and pretend they were in the military. They each ate one everyday. It took all summer. The only thing left when school started was a gazillion little bottles of Tabasco sauce, packets of salt and pepper and lots of books of matches.

I remember when MRE's first hit, they weren't much better than Chef Boyardee in a bag. They've gotten miles better over the years.

I miss the fortified hot chocolate though (anybody remember how to make choc. pudding out of it?). Mix that up with the instant coffee and creamer and BAM instant wake up.

Ain't that the truth.

I used to save the crackers, peanut butter, and jelly, and use them to make sandwiches. I tried with the ham loaf a time or two, but that wasn't as successful.

Mr. Cubby was raised on MREs. He said when his dad was in the Army in the early 60's that's all they had, sometimes the only meat they had was Spam. His mom learned how to fix it up and make them all love it, even if you wanted something else all you got were MREs.

I feel I have been deprived in not having sampled MRE cuisine.
If you get curious enough to get some, and wind up getting the ones I ate (20-some years ago, plus a bit), there are two things to be aware of.

First, if the dried fruit is mushy when you open the outer bag, don't eat it. It's supposed to be dry and solid. If it's mushy, it got wet . . . and $DEITY alone knows when that happened and what has grown in the fruit since.

Second, if you pop the retort pouch into a canteen cup full of hot water to heat your dinner, dump the hot water out and rinse the cup before you use it again. My briefing was that the glue used to hold the pouch in the outer box contained arsenic, and it would dissolve in the hot water. And when you poured your freeze-dried coffee into the water after you heated your meal, the coffee would be laced with whatever leached out of the glue.

While all those skills the girls learned are very valuable, this couple should be publicly burned at the stake for all the torture and abuse they dished out. Then all of their assets should be liquidated and given to the victims.

As for MRE's, I remember the ones in the dark brown packages when I first went into the Army a while back. They started having vegetarian ones in the light brown bags which I absolutely love! My husband and I bought a few cases of them we keep in our basement in case of a disaster. I want to keep some in the truck, but he says they would freeze in the Minnesota winter.

Those are very useful skills. At least they have something to fall back on after those assholes go to prison for the abuse.

If there are any left please send them to me. YUM

Exactly what I was thinking.
Then I thought *am I like these weirdos? My daughter learned all of that (except sheep sheering) plus more.

If there are any left please send them to me. YUM
Unfortunately, I tossed them all away in one of my moves.

Hey, they're available!

A U.K. plant grower claims he’s invented the world’s new hottest chili pepper, with a kick so strong it should never be eaten. Mike Smith’s Dragon’s Breath chilireportedly measures 2.48 million units on the Scoville heat scale, making it far spicier than the current official record-holder, the Carolina Reaper pepper, which measures an average of 1.57 million SHU.

I guess we'll have to wait for the next "hottest pepper in the world" which will surely be named Armageddon. Of course, the next inventor may decide on Blast Furnace instead. :D
