"Diana Rochelle Garrett, 37, and Stephanie Ann Lowden, 50, former staff members at Rolling Green Village Memory Care Assisted Living, are charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult, Flood said.
Lowden turned herself in to authorities Monday morning. Garrett has yet to be arrested.
Flood said an investigation began after deputies were called to Greenville Memorial Hospital on May 22 about injuries to an 89-year-old woman.
Flood said investigators learned that the victim’s son grew suspicious of maltreatment after noticing injuries pop up on the victim’s body.
Flood said the victim’s son placed a camera in his mother’s room. Camera footage showed Garrett and Lowden using physical force and psychological abuse on the victim after she resisted the their demands to take a shower, according to Flood.
The video was turned over to investigators.
Investigators contacted the administrative staff at Rolling Green to make them aware of the situation and said the staff was cooperative and willing to assist during the investigation.
Investigators said they do believe this was an isolated incident and have not learned of any additional residents experiencing similar treatment."
