A 34-year-old man was arrested Friday on DUI and second-degree murder counts stemming from a fatal July collision in northwest Oklahoma City.
About 2:05 a.m. on July 15, Timothy Ryan Bowie was riding a motorcycle at a high rate of speed south on Western Avenue when he struck Franklin McCoy, 38, at a crosswalk on NW 42, according to a court affidavit.
Investigators were later able to determine that the motorcycle was traveling about 89 mph in a 25 mph zone at the time of the collision.
After being struck by the motorcycle, investigators said McCoy ended up about 80 feet away from where he was hit. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Bowie was also taken to a hospital for injuries he sustained and was unconscious when admitted. He remained in a coma for several days, investigators wrote in the affidavit.
Blood was drawn from Bowie, who consented to it being tested three days after the collision. The test indicated his blood alcohol level was .088, above the legal driving limit, at the time he was taken to the hospital.
