A Greendale man was arrested for brutally beating two toddlers so badly that both suffered spinal fractures. The boys' mother also faces charges.

A woman went to the Greendale police station on April 29 and told investigators the about the abuse.

Police went to a home and saw that Lee's three-year-old son was bruised from head to toe, including his genitals. He had a possible foot fracture and he was missing patches of hair. A nurse called it the worst beating of a child she'd seen in her 12 years on the job.

The two-year-old suffered bruises on his neck, ear and upper torso, buttocks and ribs.

Both boys were taken to High Point Health Hospital. There, it was determined their injuries were severe enough to transfer them to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

The three-year-old told investigators "daddy" caused the injuries. He wouldn't talk about the injuries to his genitals.

The boys' mother, Jessica Lee, told police that her boys called Roger Dozier daddy but he is not their father.

Lee told police she'd left the boys in Dozier's care the night before. When she returned she said it was dark and she checked on them and went to sleep.

When she woke up the next day, she said she saw the bruises on her boys. She said she yelled at Dozier but she didn't call police or take them to get medical care. She told police she was scared and didn't know what to do.

Police talked to [Jessica ] Lee's mother, who said she saw Lee earlier that day. She said Lee didn't say anything about the injuries. Lee's mother said she believed her daughter would try to cover up the abuse for Dozier.

Damn! Mama has your number

A Dearborn County man was sentenced to 32 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of child battery.

Dozier's plea agreement indicates that he will serve 20 years in the Indiana Department of Correction and then will be placed on probation for a period of 12 years,

Roger M. Dozier, 30, said he "spanked" two children while they were in his care on April 29, according to the release. Those children were both taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital within 24 hours of the incident.

The children's mother told police Dozier took care of her children for two hours the evening before they were reported injured. She checked on both children when she returned home at 10:30 p.m. and they were asleep.

She said she did not notice the bruising until the next morning.

When she confronted Dozier about the kids' injuries, he told her he "spanked them," the release states.

The mom was charged in connection to the incident and her case is pending, the release states. The children were placed with foster families.

The release states the children, ages 2 and 3 at the time, each had multiple injuries including severe bruising to the face, neck, ear, chest, stomach, legs and buttocks. An officer noticed hair had been pulled from the top of the 3-year-old's head.

According to the release, the 3-year-old complained of neck and foot pain and when interviewed said that "Daddy hurt him."

The children's mother stated that Dozier was not the their father, although Dozier did live in their home and the children referred to him as "Daddy," according to the release.

If society wants to be fair the mother should receive a comparable sentence to that of her male partner.

If mom was aware of the abuse and it was ongoing than she is just as guilty at the male.
