The Haunting of Hill House takes place in two timelines. One is set in the summer of 1992, when Hugh and Olivia Crain temporarily moved into an old mansion, Hill House, along with their five children: Steven, Shirley, Theodora (Theo), Luke and Eleanor (Nell). They experience paranormal occurrences and tragic loss, forcing them to move out of the house. Over 20 years later, in the lingering aftermath of the hauntings, the Crain siblings and their estranged father, Hugh, reunite after tragedy strikes again, forcing them to confront their inner demons from their shared childhood while mourning their loss. - Wikipedia

I have been looking forward to The Haunting of Hill House since it was first announced, mainly because of the creator and the cast, but man what a perfect series to be watching at this time of the year. I am currently binging the show and absolutely loving it. It has some genuinely creepy moments.

The series creator, Mike Flanagan, isn't one of my favorite directors... yet... but he has directed a few recent horror films I really liked - Hush, Absentia and the Netflix original Gerald's Game. So I have high hopes that the remaining episodes are as strong as the first few I've seen.

Anyone else checking it out?

Thank you for posting this. I wasn't aware of the series, but will now go check it out. I loved the original black and white movie, it was brilliant. I disliked all the remakes, so it will be interesting to see this series.

It looked awful and i brushed it off as generic filth.

But if it's by the same director as Hush and the excellent Geralds Game, it might be worthwhile.

I'm on the fifth episode now and have enjoyed every bit of it. He got real lucky with the kid actors.

I binge watched it on Sunday. Very well done and a multi-layered complex tale. It's not your average horror story.

It reminded me a lot of The Shining, American Horror Story Season 1, and a handful of any haunted house movies you've ever seen.

I thought that, overall, it was very well done. I was ok with the ending, even though it left me just a tad confused on exactly how the house worked, and the rules regarding the ghosts inside it.

Doing something like that in a series format really helps you get invested into multiple characters as the creators have time to tell the story and not cram it all in 90 minutes. Also, those kid actors were excellent. Especially that coke-bottle glasses wearing kid.
