Accused Brooklyn ax murderer Jerry Brown is mulling an insanity plea.
Brown’s attorney, Andrew Friedman, alerted the Brooklyn district attorney’s office that he “may be interposing a psychiatric defense,” according to court records. At an October hearing, Judge Vincent Del Giudice ordered Brown to undergo a mental health evaluation.
A possible psychiatric defense could significantly delay Brown’s case — which came as another blow to Valle’s family.
“This man killed a young pregnant woman and almost killed my daughter,” Valle’s mother, Jessica Cruz, told The Post. “It’s just all so sad. This man is a murderer. How much more evidence is going to be needed to make this monster pay for what he did?”
Valle, meanwhile, is still mourning the loss of “one of her best friends” and coping with her injuries, her mom said. She regularly visits Rivera’s grave.
An accused ax murderer has been charged with tossing feces at his Rikers Island guard.
Jerry Brown, 35, accused of hacking a pregnant woman to death and nearly killing his girlfriend in a Brooklyn bloodbath last year, was indicted in August on charges of aggravated harassment of a jail employee, according to court records.
Brown allegedly attacked the female correction officer at Rikers on Aug. 17 and was transferred to Manhattan Detention Complex following the incident.
The felony charge for an inmate “throwing, tossing or expelling” bodily fluids or material like blood, urine or feces at an officer carries a maximum penalty of four years in jail.
He has pleaded not guilty in both the murder and harassment cases.
