Tekashi 6ix9ine was in federal custody on Monday on racketeering and firearms charges, along with three associates, officials told The Daily Beast.

Further details of the case involving the rapper—whose real name is Daniel Hernandez—were to be announced at an afternoon arraignment in Manhattan federal court.

But a recent memo from state prosecutors in an unrelated sex-crimes case accused him of being part of a “criminal enterprise,” namely the gang 9 Trey Bloods.

“[Tekashi] openly identifies as a member of the 9 Trey Bloods, frequently referencing the Bloods in his music and celebrating his gang involvement in the social media posts he broadcasts to his 14 million followers on Instagram,” the Manhattan prosecutors said in court papers.

A July 28 video posted to his Instagram account shows Tekashi 6ix9ine getting into a car in Miami, picking up what appears to be an automatic weapon and saying, “Trey Way!”

Three Tekashi associates were also arrested in the operation, including Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, who was his manager until he abruptly fired the entire team last week. Also busted was Faheem “Crippy” Walter, who was previously charged with gang assault after a confrontation at a Tekashi celebration, which left him wounded. Jensel “Ish” Butler was also charged.

He better pray he dont end up like XXXTenacion did.

Lucks out and has huge success... he could be one of the lucky ones to make it out of the hood and have a great life. Instead, totally blows it and is a dumb gang banger in constant legal trouble. What a waste. Too bad the chance of a lifetime didn't go to someone who wouldn't squander it.

No one gets that chance and gets to keep it without playing by the rules of the game. Entertainment is a dirty business. Many of them virtually do sell their soul for success. In his case he's probably being true to his "brand" and it comes naturally for him. We'll see how he fares on these Federal charges.

Thoughtful looking fellow.
Surely he has the soul of a poet and the genius of...

awww fukit who are we all kidding.
Lookit him FFS!
Thug eff up is best suited for prison and poverty.

Tekashi 6ix9ine has appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to racketeering and firearms charges.

The rapper was arrested earlier this month and could face a minimum of 32 years in prison.

The trial date has been set for 4 September 2019 and he'll remain in custody, although it is unclear for how long.

It all stems from his involvement with a violent US gang.

The Nine Trey Bloods are a New York gang and also known as TreyWay, which 6ix9ine has mentioned on Twitter.

The rapper's been charged with six offences which include racketeering, carrying a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy murder charges.

Racketeering is when people use criminal actions to repeatedly take money from others, and most likely associated with protection rackets.

TMZ previously reported that the 22-year-old was denied bail despite his lawyer offering $750,000 (£587,000) and house arrest.

The Brooklyn rapper has evaded jail time on previous charges, including child sex offences in 2015, but experts believe the racketeering charges could mean a lengthy jail spell for the star.

"In the history of the US, the one thing that seems to get someone locked up is racketeering, money-laundering or tax evasion," UK hip hop and culture writer, Jesse Bernard previously told Radio 1 Newsbeat.

Adding: "This could be what takes him to prison."

Despite being behind bars, 6ix9ine has still been making headlines.

Right before Thanksgiving he was reportedly transferred to a new prison for "security reasons".

His attorney Lance Lazzaro said it was because he was getting threats from other gang members in the Metropolitan Detention Center.

And his debut album, which features both Kanye West and Nicki Minaj was due to be released on Friday, has been postponed.

He is such a POS. I found this last night and it goes into a detailed history of his brief career and legal problems. He's had far too many chances but just keeps doing what he's been told not to do to stay free. Even Satan can't help you when the FBI is on your ass. I see no way out for him at this point. His behavior has just been too egregious.

According to documents, the rapper plead guilty Saturday, but court records were sealed. Prosecutors applied to unseal the documents Thursday. The motion was granted Friday.

6ix9ine will cooperate with federal officials "against multiple violent people associated with the same criminal enterprise of which he admits, or will soon apparently admit, being a member," according to court records.

6ix9ine was arrested last November, among five people charged in an indictment containing racketeering and firearms charges. The indictment alleged that he participated in the July shooting of a bystander in Brooklyn and the gunpoint robbery of one of his gang's rivals last spring.

The rapper was specifically charged with one count of racketeering conspiracy, one count of firearms offense - racketeering conspiracy, three counts of violent crime in aid of racketeering, three counts of firearms offense and one count of narcotics trafficking.

According to court documents, the rapper and other associates are allegedly part of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, "a criminal organization whose members and associates engaged in, among, other activities, acts involving murder, robbery, and narcotics trafficking."

Prosecutors say Nine Trey operated in and around Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn, New York.

Originally, on Nov. 26, 2018, the rapper pleaded not guilty to federal racketeering and firearms charges he faces at which point a pretrial conference was set for Jan. 22 with a trial date of Sept. 4.

Interesting. So he will avoid prison again most likely, this time by being a dirty rat snitch

Wonder how this will effect his career. His gutter filth fans didnt care that he raped a kid. They didnt care that he made homosexual pornography. Will committing the hood crime of being a snitch for authorities be what FINALLY turns his ghetto trash fanbase against him?

He was looking at like 5 felonies. No way he'll avoid jail time, even if he did snitch. They'll maybe put him in that PC jail in Florida with Nasser and others that everyone wants to kill.

Hat tip to you, Mr. Fergusen, for this update.

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine appears on the verge of receiving a prison sentence that is significantly less than the minimum term he would have received after pleading guilty to a litany of crimes, though he may need witness protection.

The singer signed a plea deal with federal prosecutors in Manhattan whereby he admitted to various crimes, including racketeering, conspiracy, weapons possession, drug trafficking, and others.

During the plea, 6ix9ine said he joined the Nine Trey Blood Gang in fall 2017 and helped gang members try to kill a rival last March.

He also admitted involvement in the shooting of rival rapper Chief Keef last June, the transcript reveals.

Before agreeing to a plea deal, Tekashi was indicted on a slew of charges that would have sent him to prison for a minimum of 47 years.

As part of his cooperation with the government, Tekashi 6ix9ine testified before a grand jury, TMZ reported.

Prosecutors have also agreed not to pursue charges against Tekashi for crimes he has already told the authorities about but for which he has yet to be charged.

Federal prosecutors say that the information Tekashi has given them may require that he be placed under witness protection since he is believed to have implicated individuals involved in extremely violent crimes.

So far, the rapper has been cooperative, and prosecutors say that the more assistance he provides, the greater the chance they will recommend a sentence well below the minimum.

‘Should the defendant successfully cooperate, the government agrees that it will file at the time of sentencing a motion ... for a sentence below any mandatory minimum,’ according to the plea agreement.

The severity of the sentence Tekashi will receive will be up to a judge.

He joined a gang - AFTER becoming famous? idiot! Interested to see if he makes it out of jail and into witness protection.. also hope he is ready for LOTS of tattoo removal, which hurts, never mind on the face - as well as a LONG BORING life! he will prob end up killing himself.. just like Henry Hill - hes going to be some normal schmuck! and he is going to HATE it, and he is much younger than Henry was - no wife kids nothing

He wont do any time

Prosecutors are talking witness protection. If the authorities feel someone needs to be put in witness protection, you know where that person isn't going to be sent FIRST, to fucking prison where hell be surrounded by criminals who want to kill him.

This clown wont ever acccept the witness protection, we all know that, but still, if the sentiment/beleif is there on the part of the authorities, it should tell you how seriously they actually want to punish the piece of shit.
