Police arrested a woman following the death of her 1-year-old daughter after an investigation found injuries allegedly consistent with abuse.
Police arrested 32-year-old Tabitha Molina for the May 29 death of her daughter. Doctors took the child off of life support a week after she was taken to Presbyterian Hospital – and then UNM Hospital – with critical injuries.
APD investigated and found the child suffered life-threatening injuries possibly sustained due to abuse. Molina allegedly said the child was injured in a fall but medical personnel determined the injuries weren’t consistent with that explanation.
Detectives allegedly found the child sustained injuries “on multiple occasions” before the incident that led to the hospitalization.
The investigation allow detectives to obtain a warrant for Molina’s arrest. She faces charges of intentional child abuse resulting in death and child abuse.
