An intense manhunt involving aircraft and trained dogs came to an end Tuesday after a female officer was killed in a Baltimore suburb and four teenage suspects who were involved in burglaries in the area were arrested in connection with the slaying, officials said.

The four-year veteran of the force, who has not officially been named by authorities, was responding to a suspicious vehicle call Monday in the community of Perry Hall that Baltimore County Police Cpl. Shawn Vinson said may have been the result of a burglary, when she encountered a suspect and was “critically injured.”
confirming that three outstanding suspects are in custody. All three, teenage males. Detective have verified that the group were involved in burglaries in the area. Officers will be in the area today to canvass for property stolen during these burglaries. ^NL
One of the teeangers named in court documents obtained by FOX45 as Dawnta Harris from Baltimore, who admitted that he "drove at the officer" when she told him to get out of the car while three others burglarized a house.

Police, who would not confirm the suspect's name, told Fox News the teenager will be charged as an adult.

The other teenagers have not been identified.

Baltimore County Police Chief Terrence Sheridan said at a news conference the fallen officer was wearing body camera, and the footage will be reviewed later as part of the investigation.

A man who said his son witnessed the deadly incident told FOX45 the officer tried to pull over the Jeep.

After the officer raised her gun at the people in the vehicle, the Jeep accelerated and "ran right over her, and raced out of the neighborhood," Tony Kurek told FOX45.

Logan Kurek, who is a volunteer firefighter, told the Associated Press he heard his younger brother "frantically screaming,” and ran to perform CPR on the officer who was bleeding from her injuries.

The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities recovered an abandoned Jeep that was used in the killing, police confirmed to Fox News. The slaying marked the first time a female police officer was killed in the line of duty in the 148-year history of the Baltimore County Police Department.

"What exactly happened, we are not sure yet until an autopsy is performed," Vinson said at a news conference Monday. It was not immediately clear whether the officer fired her weapon in the incident.

Exterminate them.
Especially make sure the one never sees Dawn...ta again.
(Stupid assed made up name as usual)

The fact that she thought she could just walk out in the street and think she could stop a car full of fleeing suspects is nothing short of mind boggling.
Like let's be fucking real here yo, what could she have done even if they had stopped? She'd still need to wait for back up to contain all four suspects becos she wouldn't be able to do it herself.
It's tragic she lost her life but she out here acting like she invincible when she really isn't

The teen told a detective he had been waiting in the driver's seat of the vehicle while others were in the process of committing a burglary, according to the probable cause statement.

The Baltimore County Police Department said Tuesday that three additional suspects who were involved in burglaries in the area are also in custody in connection to the slaying. They are likely to face felony murder charges, according to prosecutors.

Harris was detained by authorities in April, but was released on electronic monitoring on May 10, according to Samuel Abed, Maryland's Secretary of Juvenile Services. Despite the teen's "poor" compliance, a hearing eight days later resulted in a continuance with no action by the court, according to Abed.

"Did the system work? It sounds like it could have worked better in this particular case," Chief Sheridan said.

"I'm just still grieving. I don't know, I just feel like talking about it is definitely better than not," husband Tim Caprio told former police commissioner Ed Norris on the "Norris & Long" radio show on Tuesday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Officer Caprio won an "Officer of the Month" award for the Parkville precinct in December. Her investigation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects in numerous package thefts in eastern Baltimore County and neighboring jurisdictions.

"Officer Caprio is the type of officer you want to hire," Chief Sheridan said. "Smart, athletic, energetic. She was starting to show she had all the potential to be an excellent officer."

Prosecutor William Bickel said the slain officer's body camera footage clearly shows Harris accelerating a stolen Jeep at Caprio after she was trying to apprehend him at the location where a burglary had just taken place.

I've been following this pretty closely, it happened only a few miles from my home. The fuckard gangbangers where from Baltimore City and decided to say "Fuck school, let's go out in the county and rob some bitches". The problem is, the "stop snitching" culture don't live out there and the Baltimore County Police don't fuck around and they caught these murderous, thieving degenerates in no time.

The Instagram account "murder_ink_bmore" has many of its city resident's mad because murders get solved quickly in the county, while city murders do not. Little do they realize is that its because most of the murder victims in the county are not criminals being killed by other criminals (like the majority in the city are) and witnesses don't believe in the "stop snitching" foolishness.

Dawnta Anthony Harris Baltimore County.jpg.jpg_11613075_ver1.0_640_360.jpg

Misguided scamp Dawnta Harris
[...]

Sixteen-year-old Dawnta Harris .... has been arrested four times in six months and has been detained as recently as April 17.
Despite being taken into custody in April, he made his way back onto the streets, only to be pinned with the murder of Officer Amy Caprio.

[...]

Court documents show that Harris was put on the community detention program on May 10, ordered to wear a bracelet and to only leave his home for school. Paperwork shows that he violated the order on May 14 and a rapid response team tried to locate him at Excel Academy and at home but they were unsuccessful. On May 15, the team tracked down Harris at home holding a violation conference.

The next day, his electronic monitor notified officers that he left his home yet again. This time attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. That’s when his compliance was deemed poor, and juvenile services requested that the court bring him in.

On May 18, he didn’t show up to the hearing, but his mother did. Instead of issuing a bench warrant, the court postponed the matter until May 22, which never came with Caprio being murdered one day before.

A local sleaze lawyer, Warren Brown esq., has decided to defend this troubled ragamuffin (link). Just to let you know how much a piece of shit this guy is, Warren Brown's own son, Matthew Brown has his own thread here on DD, I believe (though I can't seem to find it at this time). He was convicted of human trafficking and prostitution of 3 underage girls (14, 16 & 17 year olds) (link) .

A Baltimore teenager has been convicted of murder on Wednesday after a jury were shown harrowing body-cam footage documenting the moment he ran over and killed a Maryland cop on a suburban cul-de-sac.

Dawnta Harris, who is 17 but was tried as an adult, now faces life in prison for the slaying of Baltimore County police officer Amy Caprio in May last year.

The jury deliberated for nearly seven hours over two days before the guilty verdict was confirmed.

It came nearly a week after jurors were shown the distressing exchange between Caprio and Harris in full, which had been captured on the slain officer's body-camera.

A black stolen Jeep driven by Harris, 16 at the time, can be seen speeding towards Caprio as she bravely stands in the road screaming at him to 'Stop! Stop!' with her hand stretched out in front of her.

The Jeep grinds to a halt just inches in front of Caprio, with the hood shaving the tips of her fingers as she points her weapon at Harris and orders him out of the car.

For a moment, the driver's-side door swings open but Harris fails to emerge. Instead, the teen ducks his head, floors the gas pedal and mercilessly plows over Caprio - leaving her in a heap on the floor.

The 29-year-old officer fired her gun once and shattering the windscreen.

But it wasn't enough to stop Harris who sped away from the scene before ditching the car a few blocks away.

Jury members watched on in horror as they heard the sound of Caprio's final moments, as she lay struggling to breathe on the asphalt as a result of her crushing injuries.

Harris sat slumped and crying in his chair when the presiding juror confirmed his guilt in Caprio's murder, as members of his victim's grief-stricken family watched on.

Even his own mother had asked officials to detain him, hoping to avoid any more trouble.

Why the fuck cry now.. oh yeah you’re worried about you oh course not the life you took of the lives you destroyed of so many families..

A Baltimore teenager has been sentenced to life in prison after fatally striking a Maryland police officer with a stolen Jeep.

Dawnta Harris, 17, was sentenced on Wednesday for killing officer Amy Caprio in May 2018 while Caprio responded to a suspicious vehicle report.

There were three others in the car but Harris was behind the wheel and floored the gas to run the officer over despite her yelling 'stop! stop!' with her gun drawn.

During the trial, jurors watched Caprio's body-worn camera footage which showed her final moments.

Three others, identified as Harris' accomplices, have pleaded guilty to felony murder.

Harris' attorney read a letter to the court in which he expressed his regret over killing the police officer.

'I just wish I could go back and not do what I did,' it said.

His attorney said he was a 'dumb kid' who panicked after stealing the car with a group of friends.

He did not mean to kill the cop but wanted to 'get away' when Caprio appeared before the vehicle.

Caprio had been called to investigate the stolen vehicle in May last year when she saw it speeding towards her.

She blocked its path with her patrol car then got out and drew her gun.

She then yelled several verbal commands, telling Harris to stop the car, but the teen ignored her.

Instead, he came to a fake stop, cracked the door open as if to surrender and then slammed on the accelerator.
