At the Palm Beach School for Autism, students are getting specialized training skills in actual workplace settings.
In tandem with Project Next, students across the Autism spectrum from ages 18-21 are learning on the job training and skills to aid them to have a future in the workplace.
By working at various local businesses, the students gain pay, training, and work time credit that can be applied as previous work experience as they advance their skills and apply for new jobs.
The empowerment to learn and have the basic skills to become permanent members of the workforce are things that many young people with Autism and their families have only dreamed of in the past, as few businesses are usually willing to take a chance on a completely unskilled special needs individual with no previous work experience, but thanks to the Palm Beach School for Autism and Project Next, dreams like these are becoming a reality for many, and for them, the future is looking brighter than ever before.
