Manhattan jurors were shown gruesome photos Wednesday of a man bludgeoned within an inch of his life at the attempted-murder trial of his Columbia-grad son, who prosecutors say beat and tortured his father with a wrench in a dispute over his late mother’s $2 million fortune.

Jason Heyworth, 37, an amateur filmmaker, beat his father Eric Heyworth, 71, over the course of four hours at his childhood home on East 106th Street on June 9, 2017, prosecutors charge

The elder Heyworth was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he slipped into a coma, and remained there for two months. He was transferred to a rehabilitation facility and later to an assisted-living home.

Jurors were shown hospital photos Wednesday of the elderly victim’s bloodied face covered in cuts, his eyes purple and swollen shut.

I was not prepared for that image. Anyone I could do this to their own parent does not deserve to live to walk freely Among Us. Put him in a cage for the rest of his life.

But first turn his face into a Road Pizza just like he did to his father.

They forgot to mention that not only did the father suffer brain damage from the beatdown, but it also turned him white.

"Amateur filmmaker" my ass, this fucker only has one IMDB entry and that was back in 2006.
Wow it’s clear you are an ignorant hick, his mom was a wealthy Spanish woman who made her broke white husband sign a prenuptial agreement and specifically named him to receive NOTHING in her will. The photos are also photoshopped not the real ones showed in court. The father tried to sue his son several times to get money he wasn’t entitled to that research is clear. Also the father wrote over 30 handwritten letters to the judge saying HE attacked his son with a wrench and begged for charges to be dropped. Don’t be so quick to believe what you read or hear in the media it’s made to fabricate stories.

The stench of total failure and entitlement.
If by 37, the best job description a person can offer is "amateur filmmaker", then look in the mirror for someone to blame.
Otherwise, present a damn good story........ Gypsy Rose Blanchard level of blame
Yeah they forgot to mention property owner of 3 2 family homes, and 2 Manhattan apartments and has an LLC with over 12 projects on TV. Don’t believe what the media puts out it’s always fabricated to make a story for you to soak up idiot

Your a fucking moron. Real affluent people have companies that their work is published under like a BOSS your researching his childhood film not the several shows he’s produced that your stupid ass watches everyday. The father write several handwritten notes to the court explaining that HE attacked his son with a wrench that’s why the wrench only had his dad’s fingerprints not HIS. Also the photos of his dad are photoshopped not the real ones showed in court. His dad never had any brain damage he was actually kicked out of the hospital for fighting the doctors, he didn’t have any broken bones or stitches the doctor’s testimony stated his injuries was from falling while attacking his son just like his father said. Don’t be so quick to comment on family fights or your ass will see from your own family if you haven’t been beat up already!

Maybe @Liesmediatells is the son.

Here is some more detail. Or, as our new member would say, media lies....

1 August 2019
[...]
A Columbia University graduate dodged a potential life sentence Thursday after a jury acquitted him of attempted murder for allegedly torturing his father with a metal wrench for nearly four hours in a battle over his late mom’s $2 million fortune.

It took the jury less than a day to find Jason Heyworth, 37, not guilty of eight of the nine counts against him for the alleged June 9, 2017, attack on Eric Heyworth, 71.
[...]
Heyworth was convicted of second-degree assault for bludgeoning his dad and faces two to seven years in prison when he’s sentenced Sept. 9.
[...]
[Defense attorney] Spodek argued that the elder Heyworth was irate that his wife left him a mere $60,000 while his sons got $1 million each.

The elder Hayworth blew $120,000 of his late wife’s estate to sue his sons over the inequitable distribution and lost, the attorney told jurors.

He said the defendant showed up that afternoon to try to repair his relationship with his dad, the executor of his mom’s will, who he believed had siphoned off part of his inheritance. The long-simmering resentment finally exploded.

[Prosecutor]Marquez told jurors that Hayworth, an amateur film producer, had frittered away his entire inheritance and was about to be evicted from his apartment over $11,000 in back rent. He asked his dad to let him move back in — but the elder Heyworth said no.

“He ambushed his father after hiding by the door,” she told jurors in closings. “Once inside he brutally beat his father for hours, hitting his father’s hands, forearms, face and head, watching as his father’s eyes and left ear swelled and blood poured from his mouth.”

The elder Heyworth was covered in vomit and had crawled from room to room, smearing his blood on the floor and doorframe, she said.

How long did it take to fritter away that inheritance?

That would not surprise me one iota.

Some people have bizarre notions of what will impress people, like claiming somebody owns multiple two-family homes or a bank account with $100,000 in it; or that somebody whose artistic insight and vision and their ability to transfer those intangibles to others so they may make them manifest to an audience and produce a hit show would be willing to conceal the fact that they are the reason for that show's success behind the name of a production company thereby squelching their ability to become affluent. If the hit-making producer is going to do that then they might as well list the producer in the credits as Alan Smithee.

Oh so self defense includes beating someone into a coma, totally reasonable :penguin:

Here's a NYP of the acquittal of the idiot "amateur film producer", get ready to see how fucked up the family, that @Liesmediatells refers to as "Real affluent people", really is.

“There wasn’t enough evidence,” said one juror, who declined to share his name.

After a neighbor heard agonizing cries for help and called the cops four times, police arrived at the Harlem apartment and Heyworth opened the door. “He was attacking me so I hit him with a wrench,” Heyworth blurted. “He owes me money. This is all over my mother’s will.”

Cops found the elder Heyworth, a retired city teacher who graduated from Harvard, on the floor, half nude, blood streaming from his mouth and ear and barely coherent.

Police said that the elder Heyworth was in such bad shape they didn’t think he was going to make it and asked him who did this to him. He muttered softly, “Jason.”

Spodek said after the verdict, “My heart goes out to the Heyworth family and I hope they can all come together after this tragedy.”

Basically, the whole family is a shit show, the mother might have been the only thing holding these reprobates from tearing into each. When she died, these shitbags showed how classless they really are.

The mother appeared to the breadwinner of the family and the rest were a bunch of greedy leeches. If @Liesmediatells is the fucktard Jason, his statement that he is the "owner of 3 2 family homes, and 2 Manhattan apartments and has an LLC with over 12 projects on TV" (if there is any truth to it) was because of his mother, not his fantasy that he has talent, because if he had real talent he wouldn't have to count on his dead mother's inheritance and definitely wouldn't be begging his father to move back into the family's basement.

So did they name the shows yet?
No, but the judge did name his sentence.

Jason Hayworth will be spending 5 years in prison for elderly assault.
A Manhattan judge Tuesday ordered a Columbia University graduate tossed behind bars for five years for bludgeoning his father with a metal wrench during a battle over his late mom’s $2 million estate.

Justice Ruth Pickholz blasted spoiled rich kid Jason Heyworth, 37, for delivering “a horrible beating” upon his 71-year-old father Eric Heyworth as she handed down the sentence in Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday.
https://nypost.com/2019/07/24/da-shows-jury-gruesome-photos-of-brutally-beaten-dad-at-sons-trial/
“He had hundreds of thousands of dollars, he had an excellent education, he had all the advantages that anyone could wish for,” the judge said of the 2017 attack. “He had everything and he himself threw it away.”

Despite the judge’s choice words, she did not give Heyworth the maximum of seven years on the second-degree assault conviction.

The character he played in the movie he was in isn't even named in the credits. Just "Lead Gang Member".

Did you see the Rotten Tomatoes entry for the movie? Some of my favorite reviews are:
A bargain-basement independent which so abysmally examines the cathartic act of confronting personal demons that it inadvertently argues in favor of suppression and denial.
Not even a grumpy cameo by Burt Young and some lovely shots of the Brooklyn Bridge can save a movie as punch-drunk as its benighted protagonist.
Less a movie than an 80-minute promo for a self-help program for the seriously desperate.
